We don't have the stomach for the brutality it will take to cow the Sunnis. Besides even if we had the stomach for it the Demoncrats would have our guys in jail. I think the Dems are hoping to have a string of berka stores for their newly converted and circumsized wives and daughters. We will have to get super serious soon with bigger weaponry or just die house to house.
Go educate yourself about what happened to Fallujah. After you've done that, then come back and explain to me why you believe our troops lack the ability to impose their will on the Sunnis that are backing the insurgency.

That's why we have to start giving the Iraqi army more heavy weapons, make it clear we will back them if they throw the foreign press out of Iraq, and start pulling US troops back quickly to the periphery (where they would seal the borders and repel invasion, both of which they could do with practically 0 casualties.)
The Iraq army would "sort things out" just like all the other Arab governments do. Once the Shiites are faced with a choice between turning the terrorists over and dying, they will turn them over.

What the Sunnis haven't quite figured out and seem constitutiontally incapable of figuring out is that the only thing standing between them and an ethnic cleansing to end all ethnic cleansing is the Americans.
