The below quote doesn't say anything about may be.

"A highly pathogenic H5 avian flu virus has been isolated in the parrot imported from Suriname, South America".

South America is the troubling part.

South America has occasional avian flu outbreaks, doesn't it? Never H5N1 before, but lesser strains, like the one that broke out in the Netherlands in... '02? '03?

I don't remember.

I have already taken the bird houses down from my back porch. Just being cautious or overly cautious as some freeper is bound to say.

The H5 is there, but not the N1.

Later maybe I'll have a chance to google and see if anyone os more specific.

Yep... a natural occurrence due to intercontinental migration (Peregrines?) or was it deliberate?

And exactly what kind of parrot was this and what kind of flight radius is it's norm?
