Plame plans to sue White House officials - (gathering storm lies + barf alert)

Joseph Wilson and his wife, Valerie Plame are preparing to file a civil suit against Bush administration officials.

Plame was the covert CIA agent allegedly unmasked by the White House. Now she is preparing to file a civil lawsuit against the Bush administration officials who may have disclosed her identity and scuttled her career, Salon.com reported Thursday.

"There is no question that her privacy has been invaded. She was almost by definition the ultimate private person," said the couple's attorney, Christopher Wolf.

Wolf said the couple would make a final decision on filing a lawsuit after special prosecutor Patick Fitzgerald has completed his investigation, Salon said.

If they do sue, Wilson and Plame could be the first litigants to depose senior White House officials since Paula Jones, an employee of the state of Arkansas, sued President Bill Clinton.

Wilson's case is nothing but showboating by a very bitter man who was proven to be a liar by a Senate Committee.

What was his lie?

"Whoever leaked that comment about my wife did it very clearly to smear my good name and my wife's good name." -- Joseph Wilson(D)

Hogwash! I don't think they had very good names to begin with, and if they did, they were undeserved. This tidbit from the Vanity Fair article sheds doubt on her ability to keep her undercover identity a secret:

On the third or fourth date, he says, they were in the middle of a 'heavy make-out' session when she said she had something to tell him." Wilson said that at that point his date interrupted their steamy tryst and decided to come clean. "She was, she explained, undercover in the CIA." "It did nothing to dampen my ardour," he told VF. "My only question was: Is your name really Valerie?" I have to wonder how many relationships she had before she met Wilson, and if she revealed her identity to them also. P> His comments at Saw Francisco State University today are more proof that he's a loose cannon. He said he wanted the Iraq Constitution to be rejected, and that he was ashamed of his country. I can't speak for everyone, but I'd be willing to bet more of his country is ashamed of him than are proud of him. Here is another comment of his...he is the idiot who has destroyed whatever name he might have had: The Oakland Tribune reports that when Wilson was asked if he'd consider running for public office, he replied that he'd had "too many wives and taken too many drugs. And yes, I did inhale."

What was his lie?

He said he read the "forged documents" before the Bush administration had seen them. When pressed, he couldn't remember the day or the place, or who gave them to him.

The Senate Committee proved that he couldn't have seen them.

Well, a legal definition or standpoint is really the only one we're concerned with here. Right?

Correct. So far as Fitzgerald and his grand jury are concerned, the meaning of "covert" is as defined by the IIPA. Based on what we know and what we can surmise, it is very unlikely that any indictments will be pursued on that basis.

The civil suit strikes me as being of propaganda value only.

So what was the point of his lie?

That the U.S. had gone to war against Iraq on the basis of forged documents...even after we knew they were forged.

Pretty incendiary stuff...

I have an associate who worked directly with Mr. Wilson, and knows the couple well. He told me that without a doubt, J.W. is the slimiest, most narcissistic, self-centered scumbag he has known in his 30+ years at the State Dept. Unfortunately, our failing culture rewards those of his ilk. Nevertheless, our suspicions are the rule: He has zilch credibility. Suing would be confirmation that this human fecalith deserves to be surrounded by the locusts of the compost pile that is our judicial system.

Just my two pennies.

You know, I realize that hindsight is 20/20, and
pardon me for being naive here, but....

there has to be some way, some method used, whereby an incoming administration can vet the holdovers in agencies like the CIA, FBI, NSA, etc., and ergo, be able to determine 'some' measure of future loyalty (or disloyalty). Those that are found to be a possible problem would, could or SHOULD be watched or monitored as a possible security problem. And certainly those, like Wilson and Plame, should never be given any position of authority or power (as they were).

I mean...it ain't brain surgery or rocket science. It's common sense. What happened to common sense in the White House? These two should never have been allowed to stick around that long ANYway.

Wilson doesn't care if he wins or not. Just keeping the
story up front while the '06 election gets closer.

Right/ the whole idea is to tie up this administration for the next 3 years. To drag the Bush administration through the mud via their propaganda wing, the mass media. The lawsuits and leaks and (possible) prosecution will be in the media so much the public will believe the Bush administration is tainted
