Gunmen have kidnapped one of the lawyers involved in the trial of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. Sadoun Nasouaf al-Janavi was taken from his office in eastern Baghdad.
He is acting for one of Saddam Hussein's co-defendants, Awad Hamed al-Bandar. One report said seven other people were seized at the same time.
In a defiant appearance at his trial on Wednesday, Saddam Hussein pleaded not guilty to charges over the killing of 148 people in a Shia town in 1982.
He refused to confirm his identity, telling the presiding judge: "Who are you? What is all this?"
All eight defendants pleaded not guilty to charges of ordering the killing of 148 Shia men in 1982. If convicted, they could face the death penalty. The trial was adjourned until 28 November.

Now let's not go losing our heads over this.
Saddam ain't popular over there.
Is this going to start "Dueling Kidnappings"?
Lets replace him with American lawyers like Dircheritz (sp?...WTF cares)
Inside job. Has to be.
He's a lawyer.... so you gotta have mixed feelings over this.....
I guess Saddam does not like his lawyers.
I do cuz the stinking "insurgents" *choke* are trying to interfere with the trial. :/
Sounds like the Shiites hitting the Fan.
Just sitting here eating my popcorn. LOL
I say we give Coulter a shot? (Coulter v Janet Reno)
An interesting publicity stunt! Gotta give Saddam credit! He still knows how to grandstand!
Mayebe the shiester lawyer Chuckie Shumer will vonunteer to take his place.
I remember that episode!
What happened to Ramsey Clark, the war criminal's best friend?
I think Coulter would loose some of the appeal if you put her in a burka and tell her to try a case.
On with the execution!
Excellent. Maybe this will deter some of the other scum who are defending him.
