I usually buy candy I don't particularly like, just so I'm not tempted to eat it before it is handed out!
Our neighborhood is wonderful--we are so blessed! We live in an evil gated community that's basically a big cul de sac but there's lots of families with kids and we make a big party out of pretty much any occasion at all.
In 2001, my husband was due to deploy on November 1 and of course everyone was feeling very patriotic, so we made the after trick or treat party into a going away party. I was looking at photos of that event the other day!
Wonderful! Thank you to your husband for serving our great country. LOL, those evil gated communities. Could never live in one myself, but I do have loved ones that live in them, and they are doing just fine.
