My FBI: Bringing Down The Mafia, Investigating Bill Clinton, And Fighting The War On Terror
Washington Times ^ | October 19, 2005 | Joseph C. Goulden

Posted on 10/20/2005 5:34:47 AM PDT by conservativecorner

Oh, let's cut right to the chase. Your primary interest in "My FBI," the memoir by the FBI director during the Clinton administration, is not drug-smuggling cases, however interesting they might be, or even the inspiring story of how a kid from Jersey became a star FBI street agent, a federal prosecutor, a federal district judge and, finally, FBI director. So proceed directly to page 245, "Bill and Me," which recounts Louis Freeh's side of the most interesting feud I've seen in Washington since LBJ squared off with Bobby Kennedy in the 1960s. There is a difference. At its core, the LBJ-RFK conflict was petty personal politics. The Freeh-Clinton conflict involved a president who used his power to short-circuit not only domestic criminal investigations touching him and his close associates, but also international terrorism that cost the lives of American servicemen. If Mr. Freeh is to be believed (and he surely convinced me) the Clinton years posed a graver threat to our system than even the wildest excesses of Watergate.

Gee, I've known this for at least eight years, and I've never even met Louis Freeh.

Thanks for this post. I've read Freeh's book and unlike clinton and his cronies, I believe HIM. The Kobar Towers subject leads off the book and shows clinton in all his disinterest in American deaths and the parents of those dead soldiers. Freeh kept the parents updated and met w/them. He promised them that he would not give up pursuing those who were responsible and he did not.

Instinct says that we have yet to learn the total truth about the 42nd president of the United States.

That would be the instincts of a Helen Keller. There is much already available to the rest of us but it is being hushed and buried by the MSM.

We must remember that they are Communists and the big lie is a mainstay of their operation. All of them are the "best and brightest" and all of us are dullards, barely able to tie our shoes, and in big need of their parental control. Therefore, Tom DeLay, Bill Frist, Karl Rove, Scooter Libby, and probably Dick chaney and George Bush, are crooks, while Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, John Kerry, Teddy "The Swimmer" Kennedy, and other Democrats are pure as the driven snow.

Actual conduct is irrelevant.

It never ceases to amaze me how long it takes for the old media to catch up with Free Republic.

This is amazing. Clinton wants us to believe him over Freeh, a Federal District Judge, Prosecutor, FBI Director, and and former agent. This is no different than who do you believe - Clinton or the blue dress???

Clinton should have been jailed.

I find it bothersome that Mr. Freeh comes out with this information now, when he's selling his book. When he had the power and position to do something about this and perhaps stop some of it, he remained silent.

I'm with you.

Back in the 90's, as Ken Starr was vilified, Freeh provided no back up.

Your point is true enough, and I take away points from Freech on this subject, but it still doesn't minimize the fact that at least now the truth is coming out.

In his book, Freeh writes about a 27 page memo he wrote to Janet Reno about illegal fund-raising by the Dems and Clinton.

We REALLY need to get a copy of that memo.

I have a rather cynical view of "...the truth is coming out." Hence my tag-line.

I think this is the earliest he could have come out with this book.

Why? The alternative media did not provide enough cover from the MSM destruction/lie machine until now. The Swift Boat Vets -- they barely came through the last battle, remember?

Buckhead/FakeNationalGuard- Documents only recently happened -- a watershed moment in the power of the little-guy with internet connection ferreting out the truth and proclaiming it to millions of people by hitting the enter button.

Just think, even five years ago, if Freeh had come out with this book, the MSM would have mounted an organized, successful spin campaign against Freeh, with no effective opposition. Now, he's actually got a chance of not being destroyed, and his message lost.

Just my 2 cents.

You miss my point. I'm not saying he should have come out earlier with a book. I'm saying he could have intiated actions when he was FBI Director. Instead, it appears that he just kept notes.
