In 1986, George W. Bush reached a crisis point in his life and changed what wasn't working. He dug deep and got serious. He got humble. He questioned himself. He can do it again, and should.

Wow, when you start your own party, let me know...
Cboldt watches Oprah
I'm watching and talking about what I consider "the base". And it NEVER included Peggy Noonan, Bill Kristol, David Frum, John Fund, or whoever else tries to insert themselves into importance. Which is all this column of PEG Noonan is attempting to do.
Poor PEG, hasn't learned the Dan Rather lesson yet. The internet has usurped her little Opionion Journal piece.

I've had enough.
Then by all means, go join the democrats.
I've posted on this board every day since 1998, and I haven't seen even half of the people who are here now bashing President Bush. If you don't want to be part of the party, that's your business, but President Bush has done more for this country than any president in history.
If you had so much against him, you shouldn't have re-elected him.
leave her alone, she's 'had enough'....after only 3 hours here!!!!!! hahahahahahaha.!
That's just my abuse of terms. Sorry about that. The base is solid. It's the kook fringer unappeasables, who are of no value to the party (in fact, they HURT the party) who are being unreasonable.

When you repeat this tomorrow for the 10,000th time in your life, contemplate....and then contemplate some more before it reaches 20,000.
I'm with ya.
No staying power in her...
Hyperbole got Ann Coulter nowhere. But please continue on.
Welcome to Free Republic. Now take a hike and good riddance.
Think of it as a child that is running toward a heavily trafficed st. Do you try to stop them before something happens that will have a lifetime of consequences?
Same thing with the Miers appointment. Up to now there have been scraped knees and bruises, (School bill, Illegal Immigration, overspending, etc.) that could be overlooked, because other things were going well. Nothing that couldn't be corrected given time. But, SCOTUS appointments are for life.
I guess Rush Limaugh or Michell Malkin ...Ann Coulter are not part your base either.
Jeez...who do you have left?...or who is your base?
FR Poll:
After a couple of weeks of research and intense debate, have any minds been changed? Do you approve of the president's nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court?
Member Opinion
No 38.2%
Yes 36.2%
Need more info 22.0%
Pass 2.7%
I'm voting Hillary! 0.9%
I don't understand it either. I have gone from being a Rednecked Squarehead, to being a Conservative Intellectual, and an Elitist Snob, by thinking GW could do better than Harriet Miers. At least I have now been labeled that several times.
Squarehead in South Central Texas = German heritage
Funny.
They all had to change their names?
but President Bush has done more for this country than any president in history.
Well I'm sure you see that I am openly mocking the insults that some in the GOP are throwing toward people who object to this pick.
I was mocking Noonan too, in my post 3. And I agree with you, that her paralleling of the fallout of the Miers pick to his admitted bout with alcoholism is a cheap shot. Noonan could have found a more friendly way to chide the President.
At this point in the Miers affair, I'm just letting my hair down ... wait, can't do that, have no hair.
Well, anyway, I'm just releasing a little steam, and I don't want you to take it personal. See, even my temporary little sign off is a pseudo-random combination of GOP insults, and honestly, the insults do make me laugh. It's not the insults that piss me off. It's the pick, dammit.
