I'm sorry, but when did discrediting Joe Wilson become a crime against the state.
"Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald must determine whether the contacts between the two men concerning Plame's CIA work were part of an effort to undercut her husband's criticism of the Iraq war or simply the trading of information and rumors that typically occurs inside the White House."
It's both. It was to undercut criticism of Cheney by Wilson. Wilson wove a story that he found a lack of evidence and it was stifled by Cheney or his people.
Team Bush is letting Joe Wilson's egotistical spin get hold.
Yeah, he sounds more and more like John Kerry with every passing day: just like Kerry saying he's going to sue the Swiftboat Vets for, um, well, um, hey, the outrage.
Who cares if they were undercutting Wilson's criticism? That is not a crime. The Clinton White House did this all the time. Was it a crime for Hillary to consult with advisors when she pointed to a "vast right wing conspiracy"? This is errant nonsense. The only "crimes" that are likely to come out of this entire thing are perjury and obstruction of justice, if there's any evidence of either. I haven't seen any yet.
I think Joe Wilson has done a good enough job of discrediting himself. There would have been no need for the administration to interfere.
Excellent point. What about the Clinton War Room...the orchestrated efforts to destroy the reputations of any and all people that went against them? Considering the fact that Plame's name was already OUT (Who's Who) and that she was not a covert agent, why all this money on an investigation if the ONLY thing is that they wanted to discredit Wilson ...(BTW, since when is telling the TRUTH in order to highlight a critic's lies a crime?)
The most incredible part of this story is that WILSON lied, yet people who tried to point out the truth are being investigated and possibly indicted!
Are you referring to the Joe Wilson who, through his lies in his NY Times Op-ed, gave ammo to the Islamicists?
