Depends on state law. The USAF will have a Services Squadron member or two there to notify the family and attend to the details.
The family will be offered information about counselling, finances, and disposition of the remains.
I suspect, given the national coverage, that the originating command will send reps, and that the airman will receive a (much belated) welcome home. Complete with fly-over and a someone playing a real bugle.
He's one of ours. We'll take care of him and his family.
