beneficence \buh-NEFF-i-suhns\, noun: The practice of doing good; active goodness, kindness, or charity; bounty springing from purity and goodness
From my grandfather Verus I learned good morals and the government of my temper. From the reputation and remembrance of my father, modesty and a manly character. From my mother, piety and beneficence and abstinence. --Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

On this Day in History
1781 British General Lord Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown, effectively bringing an end to the American Revolution. Pleading illness, Cornwallis did not attend the surrender ceremony; his second-in-command, General Charles O'Hara, carried Cornwallis' sword to the American and French commanders. As the British troops marched out to surrender, the British bands played the song "The World Turned Upside Down."

Most important thing to the MOM was getting the dog that gave love and comfort to her son.

I just read your poem. It's so sad and true.
Funny, my husband really didn't want a dog. I slowly talked him into it. It took years for him to agree. Now, he is a big softy, spoiling her, he just loves our dog. LOL!

When I worked ICU , we had a very sick man that was not doing extremely well.
Wife said he needed to see his dog and the dog was grieving for him.
We snuck him up the back steps after hours and let Man and dog visit.
Was a smart thing to do.

We sure do. I couldn't believe the pictures I saw of Boston after a blizzard last year. It looked like the frozen tundra. We sure do need a break. The last two years have been brutal.

That is so fantastic you did that for him!!! I bet his dog made all the difference in the world for him.
I wasn't feeling well a couple of months ago, My dog knew it and wouldn't leave my bedside. My son had to force her to go outside. I really loved having her with me.
There was a beautiful story posted on FR a few months ago about an older man and his daughter getting him a dog. If I find it, I will Freepmail it to you. It was wonderful. Sad, yet happy ending. I wish I was smart and I saved it.

After Brittany passed, Mr Taz fought me about getting another dog.
I prevailed and he fought loving them fiercely.
Guess who won.
Solly gazes on him like he hung the moon.
She brings him gifts every morning. Puts her balls on his pillow even when he is not in bed.
