Back In the U.S.A.
Chuck Berry

Oh well, oh well
I feel so good today
We just touched ground
On an international runway
Jet propelled back home
From over the seas to the USA

New York, Los Angeles
Oh, how I yearned for you
Detroit, Chicago
Chattanooga, Baton Rouge
Let alone just to be at my home
Back in ole St. Lou

Did I miss the skyscrapers
Did I miss the long freeway
From the coast of California
To the shores of the Delaware Bay
You can bet your life I did
Til I got back to the USA

Looking hard for a drive-in
Searching for a corner cafe
Where hamburgers sizzle
On an open grill night and day
Yeah, and a juke-box jumping
With records like in the USA

Well, I'm so glad I'm living in the USA
Yes, I'm so glad I'm living in the USA
Anything you want
We got right here in the USA

When I was a little bitty boy
my grandmother bought me a cute little toy
Silver bells hangin' on a string
she told me it was my ding a ling

My ding a ling, my ding a ling
I want to play with my ding a ling
My ding a ling, my ding a ling
I want to play with my ding a ling

And then mother took me to Grammer School
But I stopped all in the vestibule
Every time that bell would ring
catched me playin' with my ding a ling

Once I was climbing the garden wall
I slipped and had a terrible fall
I fell so hard I heard bells ring
but held on to my ding a ling

Once I was swimming cross Turtle creek
many snappers all around my feet
Shure was hard swimming cross that thing
with both hands holdin' my ding a ling

This here song it ain't so sad
the cutest little song you ever had
those of you who will not sing
You must be playin' with your own ding a ling
My ding a ling Your ding a ling, your ding a ling
We saw you playin' with your ding a ling
My ding a ling everybody sing
I want to play with my ding a ling

Saw him on a bill that included Bo Diddley and B.B. King in 1972 - Sunset Series on the Boston Common.
Bo Diddley opened followed by Chuck. He played all his greatest and left the stage. B.B. King was about a third of the way through his set before the crowd stopped screaming for Chuck to return.

Jan 25 Chuck Berry is indicted for the violation of the Mann Act in connection with an incident in Kansas in 1958. Berry is already under December 1959 indictment for another violation of the Mann Act. His personal appearances drop from 20+ a month to three February and zero in March.

Dick Clark's American Bandstand provided the first national exposure of Chuck Berry on Jan. 30, 1960

Feb 12 Chuck Berry headlines the Apollo Theatre with Little Anthony and the Imperials, Baby Washington and the Mello-Kings.

Mar 13 Chuck Berry's trial for the violation of the Mann Act begins. Two weeks later Berry is found guilty and sentenced to five years in prison and fined $5,000. Berry immediately appeals.

June 2 Chuck Berry is found not guilty for Violation of the Mann Act for the one concerning a female in Topeka, Kansas.

Since I moved to Tupelo, Mississippi I have had the privilege of seeing several legends play here at the annual "Elvis Presley Festival". Chuck Berry, B.B. King, Charley Daniels, Little Richard and others.
All were good, but Little Richard was in my opinion the absolute best. I never card for him much and was very prepared to dislike his show, but was blown away with his music and humor. I would and will pay real American money to see him again.

I saw him around the same time at the Arie Crown here in Chicago and we all went nuts when he broke into the blues classic "Dust My Broom."

Wasn't Chuck Berry sued when he had hidden cameras mounted in the bathroom in his house to film lady visitors using the restroom?

Trust me on this one--it wasn't pleasant living next to him.
