Now I did work at in a high-tech start-up business where the young folks worked 24/7 and slept over. Next morning it was nothing to come into work, walk down the hall, and pass some computer geek with a Breath Rite strip on his nose!
We wore uniforms at my school.
I would rebel in the ways I could (ie paisley or striped tights) LOL
When I go to church, I frequently wear a pants suit. All of my pants suits are custom made and cost more than most laptop computers. I think it's the type of pants worn; not the fact that pants themselves are worn.

True, but the start of a lackadaisical attitude toward how to dress goes back to the boomers and has progressively worsened

My office used to get pretty underdressed as the tax deadline approached. Shoes off, and sometimes people had pillows so they could put their heads on the desk for an hour. The important thing was being there!
During my first pregnancy, I had a horrible skin rash for a couple of weeks, and simply couldn't wear decent clothes. My boss said it was better to be there in my bathrobe than to stay home! I went to work at 5:00 a.m., and they passed files to me over the partition!

But the point is they shouldn't be wearing those either. Rules and regs have been too relaxed. There is a lot to be said for learning discipline. Getting out of bed on a schedule and arriving somewhere on time and properly attired is part of what school should be accomplishing.
Recently a young woman wore flip flops to the White House to meet President Bush. Her picture was on tv and FR.

This is old news. It's been happening for at least 6 years.
The kids in her school wore them when my college senior was in high school.
LOL...how precious! Reminds me of when my daughter went up to our Pastor after the service and said, "Wow - you sure do know a lot about God!"
Not the type of "thinking" I want for my children...
That's why I send mine to private school.
Next we'll be having adults wearing them to work!I actually saw this in China. It was fashionable in some neighborhoods for adults to run out to the store in their jammies. Made me want to hurl. It can really be a disgusting sight.
