Bottom of 2nd, 1-0 Astro lead, good game with baserunners and a great tag out at the plate by the Cardinal catcher.
Squid, Tink and I will go to a good sports bar and watch tomorrow night. I will root for the Cards, you for the Stros.
This is what it's all about.
No trash talk.
No BS.
We can't change the game, we can only enjoy it.
Someone is gotta rejoice, someone is gonna cry.
Historically, best that I can tell no team in this situation has overcome it. However I bet the Astros step up and win one of these 2. Not necessarily Oswalt (tomorrow night), and Clemens has been surprisingly shaky or even bad in big games lately, but I think he finds a way to win game 7.
I'll relay to Mr. HR. I've just about convinced him to get his own FReeper name/account on FR.
It's a deal. I'll be at a friend's house and so will not be able to post for a while. I probably won't post for a while regardless of the outcome. I have been trying to avoid ESPN but no such luck--it was on at a bar I was at.
I won't say more. Good luck tomorrow.
Cool. Is he also a Red Raider?
Oh, yes.
I was thinking about it and it was even stupider, because if you walk Ortiz in that spot, as some pitchers have been faced with, you have Manny hitting with RISP. There was no Manny to hit behind Pujols. I've heard people say you can't walk Pujols because it moves 2 men into scoring position. When you have a 2-run lead and need only 1 out, there are a million ways to get out of that inning safely-- pop outs, ground outs, GIDP, etc. All the runners are in motion. I bet they could have even picked someone off, maybe Edmonds at 2B thinking of going to 3B or scoring from 2B, if they were clever about it. You have the best NL closer facing Sanders in that spot. You have to go with that matchup. Couldn't be set up better for the Stros.
