Bottom of 2nd, 1-0 Astro lead, good game with baserunners and a great tag out at the plate by the Cardinal catcher.
How could I forget Gedman? Thanks for the info.
Tony's motto: PLAY A HARD 9
Hey Doug, did you feel the 4.0 earthquake we just had about 12 minutes ago?
Didn't "Wild Thing" do that in the '93 Series against the Jays? Maybe more than once. Was he the one who gave up the dramatic winning homer to Joe Carter?
Because I just logged on to the internet/FR after the game.
Sorry... maybe during the next game I will log on while I watch it.
Busch Stadium is still standing here in St. Louis, about ten minutes from here.
You are exactly right. It was Toronto, and Joe Carter. Williams was never the same after that game.
It's okay...I'm just a bit raw right now, as you might imagine...wow. That was a heartbreaker from my view. You must be loving it.
I am trying to console myself by saying that St. Louis needed to have a classic win this series too in order to make it complete. But that's not working righ tnow. Destiny beckoned, and the Astros could not seize the low-hanging fruit. It was so perfect...today was the anniversary of their founding. But it's not to be...tonight anyway. We shall see.
Yeah, I don't remember it very well, but what you wrote sounds right.
Blue Jays fan here...yes he did....Game 6 of the world series in 1993...was at the game.
That was about as dramatic an UP-down as I've ever seen. The crowd was so incredibly high after the Berkman homer and even into Eckstein's AB. But then . . . on Prince Albert's majestic blast, first it was sheer jaw-dropping awe at how hard and how far that ball was crushed, and then stunned silence, knowing that they would not be celebrating tonight, at home.
Astro fans beware!!!!!This does smell a lot like '86. BTW, what if there was no wall there, I wonder how far that ball goes. It was still RISING when it hit the tracks.
In Cleveland we ony wish for such dramatics.
"Bush" Stadium would be Houston, where GHW and Bar have been sitting behind home plate. Busch Stadium is still standing here in St. Louis, about ten minutes from here.
Sorry, my bad.
My girlfriends brother was scheduled to start tearing down Busch tomorrow. Guess he won't be driving downtown on Tuesday.
I'd like to see the tale of the tape on that blast. He got every single bit of it, and he is a very strong man with a perfect swing. That was a monster.
lol i know that!
it was good seeing George and Barbara there!
I sort of know the feeling. In game 6 of the 1992 world series the Blue Jays got to within one strike of the world series championship only to have the rug pulled out from under them. That was one of the few games where the pressure of watching overcame me. The game got tied but not ended in the 9th and the Blue Jays went on to win it all in extras but I had never wanted a strike harder than that one in the 9th.
That ball went all the way back to St. Louis. It will roll up to the pitcher's mound, ready for Roy-O to try to do it again.
I did not. But in Upland at about 3am this morning, I felt thunder like never before. It rattled my windows and it had to register on the Richter.
Somebody better give that man a call, or we might be seeing 600-foot "inside-what-used-to-be-the-ballpark" home runs on Wednesday.
I think that was the same one we heard in Simi at that time. It echoed for 20 seconds!
