Strippers flown to party
Details emerge in Vikings' sexcapades
KNIGHT RIDDER NEWSPAPERS
ST. PAUL, Minn. - Strippers flew in for the party. Football players pulled up in limos. As a pair of chartered boats eased onto Lake Minnetonka, booze started flowing and, according to crew members, a sex party began.
Investigators now believe that the strippers from Atlanta, Florida and elsewhere who joined the party apparently work for a high-class escort or call girl service that caters to professional athletes, two law-enforcement officials said.
The party was a far cry from the typical gathering handled by Al & Alma's Supper Club and Charter Cruises, a mom-and-pop outfit in Mound, Minn., that one cop involved in the case called a "Perkins on the lake."
When a group of Minnesota Vikings players chose to party amid bartenders and hostesses accustomed to working family functions and company outings, the result was a major uproar.
Any criminal charges that come out of complaints about lewd behavior on the boats are likely to be minor, a law-enforcement official directly involved in the investigation said Thursday.
But as details about the Oct. 6 party emerge, the Vikings reel in a stream of negative national publicity.
The blowup stems at least in part from the choice to hire the boats and crews from Al & Alma's, two law-enforcement officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case.
"Basically, it's a crime of stupidity," one of the officials said. 'We got naive young kids catering, watching 350-pound athletes" engaged in lewd conduct, said one of the officials. "There are probably only two or three other cities in the country where this incident would have happened and not made news or generated a complaint. I'm thinking Los Angeles, New York and possibly Chicago. That stuff doesn't go down well here."
Vikings owner embarrassed
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf is angry and embarrassed over accounts of drunkenness and sexual misbehavior by his players on a charter cruise, and said Friday the team will now have a conduct code.
Wilf, in his first comments since the boat party last week, said he has apologized to the governor. He also has spoken with his players, who will be held to a code demanding "high standards, high morals and success."
Stephen Doyle, a lawyer representing the boats' owners, has said cornerback Fred Smoot, formerly of Mississippi State, paid for one of the cruises on Lake Minnetonka. A total of about 90 people were present, Doyle said. They returned to shore more than two hours early when crew members complained of wild, lewd behavior.
"Rule of thumb: If you pay for sex, you are not a stud."
You don't pay a hooker for sex.
You pay her to leave after sex.
(Mrs. MWT is now beating me.)
Manning is a good example of a lot of fine character to be found on the Colts team. Coach Dungy sets a very good example. In fact, perhaps the best example can be found with a Colt player who screwed up recently. Mike Doss (strong saftey) fired a gun into the air in public and was arrested. Two days later he appeared in Court and pled guilty, apologised and accepted his sentence like a man. He also admitted his mistake and conviction to the NFL who suspended him for 4 games. It has been widely reported that Doss has shown true remorse and repentence for what he did and went above and beyond the call in satifying his probation and community service obligations way ahead of time. The NFL was so impressed, they reduced his suspention to two games. Each of us has screwed up in life and done things we regret. What defines our character is how we respond to this, learn from it and become better persons in the process.
Jacqueline Kennedy sold herself to Aristotle Onassis for 12 Million Dollars. Now----Thats High Class prostitution.
Lets not forget Anna Nicole Smith, Or John Kerry. He sold himself to a Millionaire then traded her for a Billionaire. I bet Theresa wishes she had kept her checkbook in her pocket.
There are probably only two or three other cities in the country where this incident would have happened and not made news or generated a complaint.
Naw. In 69 the Superbowl determined the REAL champions of football, and it wasn't the Vikings. Remember the "Chinese Fire Drill" comment by Hank Stram?
"65 Toss Power Trap", "Otis" and Joe Kapp pounded like cheap veal. The Chiefs just kept matriculating that ball down the field.
Is this guy a big Dem donor? What's Zygi's full name, anyone know?
Yeah, it's a far cry from Knute Rockne and Vince Lombardi.
Right. Our pros have no business in the Olympics.
I like Zara Spooks, bucktail jigs and Rattle Traps myself.
Everybody pays for sex in some way or another. Are you not married? Ever been on a date where you did not have to spend money?
And actually, some of the best dates my wife and I have had entailed zero money.
My comment was tongue in check. Should have put a sarcasm tag on the end.
I was hoping so
Or Bud Grant.
I don't equate marriage with prostitution.
I think there's absolutely no comparison of a woman marrying a man (for whatever reason) and a prostitute who's selling herself to thousands of strangers.
The comparison is non-sequiter.
I dont agree. There is little difference. Marriage involves love, not a business deal. You dont truly believe Jackie married Onasis for love. When money enters into the deal it is little more than prostitution. When Jackie died she was living with a married man. She is no more high class than any other prostitute. When JFK had his girlfriends coming in the back door Jackie had her boyfriends coming in right behind them. A prostitute is nothing more than a whore who makes money at it instead of giving it away for free.
Gee, thanks for the insight Mr. Swaggert.
Equating the "bad" marriages of two women, whom you deem mercenary or unfit, still doesn't make your case comparing prostitution (ONE hooker screwing THOUSANDS of men a year) to marriage (one man, one woman).
Citing adultery for your description only cites a bad marriage, not the case for equating prostitution with marriage.
Prostitutes are promiscuous by choice of occupation. There is no love, no sacrifice, no commitment. No intention of any of those is in the exchange of services.
You judge these women by what you read in the newspapers.
In the past marriages were often deals between families....and they weren't equated in any way, shape or form, with prostitution, no matter how cynical or bitter one might have been. Sometimes the frontier men and women got married with brokers.
Equating marriage with prostution shows how little you think of marriage. Bad marriages are NO justification or excuse for prositution. Nor do they nullify the beauty of the institution. There is NO way in the world to describe prostitution in any other terms but a pathetic, dysfunction woman (usually a drug addict or drunk) putting her face in THOUSANDS of men's crotches for cash, and/or lying on her back, naked, and spreading her legs for THOUSANDS of total strangers, for cash.
Faulty logic. Comparing one bad behavior (promiscuity of prostution) with another bad behavior (adultery)doesn't make the case.
Your quite welcome.
You obviously needed the lesson.
Btw, it's Mrs. Swaggert.
If you had actually READ my posts, which you obviously didn't, you would have seen that I am female.
But, I guess that's asking too much. Typical second page comment.
