BEIJING, Oct 15 (Reuters) - China has developed a new and better vaccine for use on birds against the avian influenza strain that scientists fear could cause a global pandemic among humans, state media said on Saturday.
The vaccine had the advantage of fighting another common bird disease, as well as the H5N1 influenza strain that has spread from Asia to Europe, state television reported. It identified this as avulavirus APMV-1, also known as Newcastle disease.

Sometimes I wonder if China may have created the bird flue. Or perhaps France. France is nasty. The KFC in Saigon (probably like many KFCs in Asia these days) is serving fish on the menu instead of chicken. Perhaps the French developed this Bird Flu so they could increase their chicken exports to Asia. Hey, it's a heck of a lot less far fetched as the "bombing of the levees in New Orleans".

Maybe you should have listened to them.
Once the bird flu has left the chinese borders, they lose control of the situation. That is a single sick bird or person outside of china will have billions of live viruses inside, any of which can mutate to something china does not have a vaccine for.

Well they might, but the top scientists there aren't exactly free, they have to carry out what their mad maoist masters call for or else get the lead poisoning.
I guess it helps to have live humans as their guinea pigs.
You assumption requires that the chinese leaders are incredibly stupid which if they are, in the long run, we have nothing to fear from them.

In my other posts about avian flu, I've been saying that what we need is a vaccine for chickens and turkeys, not a vaccine for humans. My guess is that if this avian flu thing blows up in Bush's face, it will be because it destroys our poultry industry, not because it kills millions of people.
What's to prevent China from preparing version B of the vaccine that will slowly infect Americans with some other deadly disease?
Nothing, except that we can do the same thing to them, if they want to play that game, and their society is a whole lot more suseptible to disease than ours.
