I'm still in this manic phase so I got out the cell and called everyone I know. I told them how happy I was. And WHY.
My niece, who suffers my politics but isn't quite there, said she "heard" there was an election today. I waxed on and on and in due course, she became happy too.
Finally I called my daughter, God love her, with whom I argue politics a plenty. She's SLIGHTLY liberal although that has changed greatly since she's had a child of her own.
"Melissa," I shouted into the phone. "We're WINNING. They voted in Iraq today. Turnout is high."
You know what she said? Made me smile.
"Yeah," she responded with enthusiasm. "Even the Sunnis are voting."
God bless she knew that. God bless she's paying attention. God bless that beautiful granddaughter of mine will never have to wear a burqua.
Us Americans who carry this country on our backs, we'll NEVER be against freedom. Who could ever be against a free people?
I just sent an email this morning about the DOD/America Supports You sponsored HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS
http://www.defenselink.mil/news/Oct2005/20051014_3045.html
and followed with my cut and paste of the election with a note that I just wanted to share the gifts America's sons and daughters have given today.
Perhaps the elation comes because
today is a priceless glimpse inside humanity's soul.
It's hard to find the words to describe 'today'.
