Maine just doubled the cigarette tax too. From one dollar a pack up to two dollars a pack. Which makes ten dollars on a carton.................to balance a state BUDGET!!!!
If the lawmakers would have added one penny to each can of beer, this tax would have been un necessary!!!

... even though lawmakers are struggling to find long-term solutions to address health-care needs for the poor and uninsured. It boggles the mind how people can justify in their minds increasing taxes on a product to both increase revenue and decrease the use of the same product at the same time.
