Thin, unmarried women who have things in their lives to occupy their time live very long lives, actually.
What, you mean Bloomberg won't win in NYC?!
Yawn...
I've heard some version of "I'll never vote republican again" ever since the GOP took control of Congress in 1994. It gets old, especially since we keep on winning without you. Any of you.
Besides, you sure didn't stop Hillary or Schumer from making it to Washington, so you aren't exactly talking about some great loss.
Which is to say: get over yourself.
Instead, get mad at southack and go flee from the GOP. Bye.
Don't let the door catch you on your way out. You won't be missed.
It's not considered good form to change the title under which an article is published - it makes it impossible for later posters to check to see if something was already posted.
As happened with this story.
*eye roll* You guys still think that Reid and the others have some sort of vast tract of secret information that none of us have. Reid has secretly put Miers into Bush's confidence for a decade for just this moment. How devious!
I know exactly why Reid wants Miers' nomination and it explains exactly why conservatives will be behind her after the hearings are over.
I agree completely!
Let's take them one at a time:
Do you think that there was no fight over Bush's 3 income tax cuts? Agreed, there was a fight, victory (temporary, maybe) to Bush
No fight over Bush's withdrawal from Kyoto and the ICC? No real meaningful fight here, Kyoto was never approved by the senate and I doubt anyone in politics seriously considered subjecting Americans to that Kangaroo court in the Hague. So, grumbling and whining maybe but no real fight.
No fight over Bush's national missile defense? Again, not a serious one. This stuff is still in development and again I don't think any serious pol will reject it if and when it is made to work.
No fight over opening up the Alaska Petroleum Reserve to new oil drilling? A good example of Bush backing down. Will this be re-visited? Maybe.
No fight over banning partial birth abortion? When you say this, I think of Rick Santorum, not Bush. Let's see what happens when the Supremes get ahold of it.
No fight over going to war with Iraq?! Based on how many dems voted for this, I'd say again no real fight. Even if they voted against it later.
No fight over UN Ambassador Bolton?! This, at least, WAS a real fight. Victory to Bush. This is just the kind of fight we'd like to see more of.
No fight to get right-wing judges such as Bill Pryor and Janice Rogers Brown confirmed to the federal bench?! Can you say gang of 14?
No fight to arm commercial pilots?! They aren't armed, are they? The TSA folks are all trade unionists now, aren't they?
What world have you been watching that you've seen Bush fight no fights in Washington?! I've seen a few fights, but I've seen a lot more attempts to "change the tone", I've seen NO vetos, I've seen Ted Kennedy feted and stroked and return that favor with a stick in the eye of the pres. every time. I've seen McCain Feingold signed into law. I've seen a veritable Mardi Gras of spending proposed for the thankless people of Louisianna.
And now I've seen the president nominate HIS PERSONAL ATTORNEY to the Supreme Court. Frankly I think the most likely reason is to give a big "Take that!" to those in the MSM who have accused him of cronyism. Well that is NOT a fight worth having. And it is always a bad sign when those on the right start reading the papers and caring what is said about them there.
I'm the biggest Bush fan my friends a family know. And right now, I feel like Tom Daschle.
I didn't form my opinions by reading what the papers said. I formed my opinion by looking at as much of her record as I could find at the time, reinforced by what I have found since.
Perhaps you're confusing the Alaska Petroleum Reserve with ANWR; two different places.
President Bush opened up an additional part of Alaska for domestic oil drilling. In 2004, the National Petroleum Reserve, an area west of the existing Prudhoe Bay field, was approved for new energy exploration and production.
The fight was the Dems in Congress vs the President; Bush won. You miss the point by focusing on the judges...that's an entirely different, additional fight to be won.
President Bush signing a federal ban on Partial Birth Abortion
The Dems and the press are still fighting against that war.

4,500 pilots armed by March 2005
Hardly. Diane Feinstein has a concealed carry permit too you know. It means nothing.
There's been no fight over Bolton. He's currently serving a recess appointment.
No fight to arm commercial pilots?!
And there's been plenty of reluctant foot-dragging over arming pilots, even to the point of seeming to sabotage the program.

He won? He never fought. Bolton is serving in a recess appointment that will expire in January 2007.
