The school flew the Mexican flag Tuesday in his honor

Why?

If he was a Mexican citizen, there was no reason for him to be on an American school soccer team.
If he was an American citizen, there's no reason to fly an American flag.

Oh sure, foreign kids to Ghetto schools.

"A foreigner shall not become a member of an American High School team." - Let me guess? This is an amendment to the Constitution, right? Or at least a ruling of the Supreme Court? No? Oh, this is just your racist view, or what?

Sorry, I´m myself a foreigner, and I see no reason why a Mexican kid who regulary visits an American High School shall not play in that school-team. And I get pretty angry when reading those posts like yours.

No doubt, illegal immigration must be stopped. But there´s no indication that this guy was an illegal alien.

Well we certainly let them into our armed forces.

Not all Mexican born people have no legal business being here.

Really? My high school soccer team had Brazillian citizens, Colombian citizens, and even an Irish citizen. They won the state championship and made it to the finals every year I was there.

As hard as it may be for you to believe, there are no laws against non-citizens attending schools whether private (like mine) or public.

As much as I hate the illegal alien problem, have you never heard of "exchange students"? ...LEGAL "resident aliens" ..."student visas"? ..."dual citizenship until of legal age"? Those would be some of the most common (legal) reasons for a Mexican citizen to be on an American HS team.

Way back in The Stoned Age, if anything had happened to Nandu, I'm sure my high school would have displayed the Indian flag in like manner; ditto for Onyango, and the Kenyan flag.

Perhaps he was a MEXICAN. You can still be a American citizen and been born or raised in Mexico. He probably had close ties to his heritage.

It's entirely possible for a Mexican citizen to be here perfectly legally (visiting, immigrating and in the process of becoming a US citizen). If so, there's no reason he shouldn't be on an American school soccer team. Don't jump to conclusions.
