He had the stuff in his backpack. Assuming he was sitting down, the tree and lamp post are off to the sides. The lpost has too small a xsection, but the tree might have been hit at bench level. The building behind the bench and the concrete pad would be where to check, but I doubt there's anything there. The windows were probably taken out with flying bench parts.
There's a white linear mark on the right side(when seated) of the new bench. Is that a blast mark?
Since he made and used a peroxide, maybe he packed it in plastic, so that when he sat down and leaned back the granules crunched and went kabluey. At any rate he looks more like a psychotic kid than a real jihadi.
He used TATP...

I suggest you read the summary at my blog. I've tried to mention all conflicting reports, and have provided links to all sources for what I've mentioned. It will answer many of the questions you have been posing on this thread.
BTW: New information tonight. Former FBI agent said the the FBI received new directives after 9/11 to treat all explosions as Terrorism related until proven otherwise. My question is why wasn't this done in this case...

As far as I can tell, it is a chalk mark from when they drilled new holes to anchor the replacement bench. They did not use the existing holes, as far as I could see.
Remember that PhiKapMom reported a "directional device. If the favored direction was forward, relative to the bench, the tree and the lamp post would be off to the side of the main area of effect. The back and side blast might still break windows that were fairly close.
