Rebels attack police HQ in Russia province-reports
MOSCOW, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Gunmen attacked the police headquarters and other government buildings in a Russian province near rebel Chechnya region on Thursday and a battle was raging in the town, news agencies reported.
The attacks were launched in Nalchik, main city of the Kabardino-Balkaria region, and fighting was going on in several parts of the town, Interfax reported, quoting local police.

NALCHIK, October 13 (RIA Novosti)-Two militants have been killed and one policemen wounded in a gun battle in the North Caucasus city of Nalchik, a source in the local law-enforcement agencies said Thursday.
The gun battle is continuing in a suburb of the city, which is the capital of the republic of Kabardino-Balkariya.
According to the source, an anonymous caller phoned the police on Thursday morning and said that there were armed people in the suburb.
"After arriving at the scene, the police were ambushed and shot at by unknown assailants," the source said, adding that there were about 10 militants involved in the gun battle.
