Game 2 of the ACLS left Chicago celebrating a 2-1 victory. Controversial strikeout didn't end the ninth..

The catcher knew. It would have been an easy throw to first if he didn't catch the ball.
First Miers, now this. How many more bad decisions can I take. Won't mean much if the Angels when the series, but...
Umps holding PC on ESPN
What was unethical? If the ump doesn't say OUT really loud...you run. It's not the batter's fault the Ump made a bad call.
If you look at the close-up replay from in front, you can clearly see that the BALL BOUNCES UP INTO THE MITT A SPLIT SECOND AFTER IT GOES INTO THE SHADOW MADE BY THE MITT BUT BEFORE IT HITS THE MITT.
Watch it. AJ was right. The umpire was right. The announcers need to apologize to the ump on air before the next game.
He was right.
there is going to be some great signs and Ray Charles costumes on Friday night!
Worst call I have ever seen in forty years of watching sports.
Without a doubt! I can't believe that bad call stands... the Angels were robbed! >:-(
Umps being interviewed live on ESPN now...
PC is also how they are answering the questions. . . . .
Uh, Strike three is not an out if the batter is swinging and the catcher does not catch the pitch. In that situation, the batter must be thrown out at first.
I am not saying that is what happened here. I'm saying that's been the rule for many many years.
The players then walked off the field, catcher rolled ball to mound bbased on the out call.
This was a crazy thing.
To accept it, as did the Black Sox, shows they are bush league -- Black Sox then, Black Sox now.
The Angels might have still lost the game in EXTRA INNINGS, but this was a blown call and now we will never know. Hell, the umpire called the guy out and then he became a wimp and suddenly didn't know like the 3rd base ump who "didn't" see anything either. Do they think the catcher would just toss the ball toward the mound if he "dropped" the ball. No he would have thrown it to first base. If this doesn't get replay at least in the playoffs, then I guess nothing will.
More than one yanked.
Certain moderators are idiots.
No doubt about it.
I agree 100%, The inning was over at that point, very bad call
"To accept it, as did the Black Sox, shows they are bush league -- Black Sox then, Black Sox now."
You can't be serious. While it was a horrible call, there's not a Major league team that would not take that W in the same circumstance.
Here in Chicago, hubby agrees with you....(but then again, he's a Cubs fan) ;)
Second, you're wrong because umpires' calls ARE PART OF THE GAME.
You're welcome.
