Unless something blows up at the hearings, here is what will happen. Miers will receive confirmation by about the same margin Roberts did.
And we will have several days of numerous vanities about never voting Republican again, largely by those who have posted such vanities repeatedly in the past.

the hearings, the hearings, wait till the hearings-- all i hear from the pro miers crowd. it is a way to stifle dissent
she will likely invoke the ginsburg rule, and even if she didnt-- these hearings do not provide an insight as to if she will not drift leftward within 5-10 years. *that* is the concern, based on previous positions of supporting affirmative action and the creation of "womens studies" lecture series, trepidation is warranted

Miers will receive confirmation by about the same margin Roberts did.Whether or not she's confirmed is still an open question, but if she is, I'll wager that it will not be by the same or greater margin as Roberts.

I'll certainly be voting Republican again and again. I agree with the President 9/10 times. The nomination of Harriet Miers, however, was a misstep.
