Rabies, for one. I heard that can be a big problem, not only with squirrels, but with any of these feral animals.

You heard wrong, there are absolutely no reports of rabies squirrel to human transmission per CDC.

Squirrels are rodents. They almost never have rabies. Skunks are a different story.
