Even then, though, the MEDIA tried to portray the 'peace' movement as virtually unopposed.
When the 'Mayday' demonstrations were supposed to happen the first time in Washington D.C., a lot of the 'protesters' hitch hiked into town.
My folks told me of a couple of them who only offered a ride on the roof racks of a guys work van accepted. (The inside was full of tools and construction materials). Apparently the driver proceeded to cross the GW Bridge at a high rate of speed moving from lane to lane as fast and erratically as conditions would permit. (You could do that in those days).
At the other end of the bridge, he stopped to let them off, and as the story goes, they hitch hiked the other way...

Could be the entire point. Negative propaganda is often used to rally support.

Thanks for the ping, and YEAH to the bikers. I wish that minister would re-examine his theology.

About 70 members of the leather-clad American Legion Riders from Kansas and Oklahoma revved their motorcycles for about 30 minutes, drowning out anything the church members tried to say. Good. God bless them.
And the fever swamp where Phelps and his fellow whackos gather is a "church" in name only.

They stood on a street corner in sight of the church and waved signs with messages such as "God Hates the USA" and "Don't Worship the Dead." Unfortunately, those were the least offensive signs. Others included "God hates fags" and something about thanking God for IED's. All in all, those so-called Christian folk were celebrating the death of US soldiers.

Fred Phelps and his hate group do a great disservice to Christianity.Helllooo!!! It's not about Christianity; it's about Fred.

There is something wrong with this country that we can't just beat the crap out of the protesters.

I'm sorry the bikers didn't give Fred a whipping. He needs to get the snot knocked out of him a few times. A sorry excuse for a man.

And I remember the ILA (longshoremen) Coming out of Battery Park, Kicking a$$ on the ones that made it as far as One Broadway, on their way to Whitehall St.

I'm sorry the bikers didn't give Fred a whippingThats exactly what Phelps' protests are about, getting "abused" so they can sue the community they protested in. Thats how they make their so-called living.
Expect to see Phelps, and hopefully, at least 100 Americal Legion bikers in Del City Sunday for another American Hero's funeral.
