""I can't find enough popcorn,""

He's going to be really sorry he said that one when the hearings start. It is when Salon starts jumping on the let's get Harriet train that I'm thinking things are really looking good for this nomination. It's going to be a win/win all right ... but not according to this forecast.

We aren't going to get anyone better out of Bush. And we are going to lose our right to complain about the 'rats on this subject. We've got to go with her. This is getting ridiculous.

So how is it anybody at Salon has information that "Conservative resistance is stiffening"?

Once you filter out the Federalist Society from the Free Republic threads, we don't even see serious resistance here.

In fact, we don't detect the slightest whiff of the sort of religious bigotry National Review started tossing around (initially).

If Ms. Miers goes down, it's going to be on account of how she handles the hearing.

Bingo. And I have a hunch she is going to sound like a really, really nice southern lady.

Is it just me or is the torrent of miers stories slowing down a bit?

No wonder he's Frist's EX-Aide.

He must be hooked on EX-Lax.

I think you underestimate the effect this is having on the base.

If you look at the Rasmussen tracking poll President Bush's approval is at a low point in his term, 43%, and has dropped dramatically from 48% on Saturday.

This is not moderates that are upset, it is Republicans, and right now only 73% of Republicans approve of Bush, and that approval has been in the 80-90% range his whole term.

I think that the Miers nomination is making a lot of pent up frustration boil to the surface.

I hope Miers impresses during her hearing.

Why does Bush give so much credit to the Dems?

Do you realize that if Scalia would have been nominated today, he would go down to defeat, in a Senate with 55 Republicans?

Sad sad state of leadership.

I love the spin from the Bushbots about the low poll numbers..."Push polling" "Leftist poll" "weekend poll."

Sheesh, haven't they been reading the comments around here? (Yes, they have, and they dismiss them as coming from people who are closet DU'ers and have been all along)

Oh, well, if a "former Bill Frist aide" says this, I guess it's a done deal, right?

No doubt the price of gasoline has more to do with it than Ms. Miers.

Doesn't matter what his poll numbers are

We will never get a well know hard core conservative through the senate for a vote

Q: Why does Bush give so much credit to the Dems?

A: The GOP "majority" in the Senate.
