Your righr. It is long.
Any follow-up? As a former Clevelander, I'd be curious to hear how it goes down.
The theme with some of my friends at school is 'Wal Mart is bad because they make money selling cheap stuff to poor people'.
I usually try to agree along the lines of: 'I know, how evil. The poor should be forced by law to shop only at expensive, high-end retail outlets (that still sell stuff made in China). Some people just don't have a clue.'
It's surprising to see so many anti-capitalist Walmart whiners on Free Republic..Mostly union lovers and former Walmart malcontents from what I gather reading threads about Walmart. Unions hate Walmart because it's employee's won't capitulate to their Marxist concepts. America-Land of Opportunity, home of the world's most successful entrepreneurs and businesses.
How long 'til the first Wallybasher shows up?
"Waahh, Chinese junk, waahh!"
I hate Communist Red China. So I avoid Wal-Mart like the plague. Broke my record this year. Only been there once so far this year.
I was reading a thread earlier and found that a bit odd as well. I don't know that I would say that there are many FReepers who share those views. If you don't like it, don't go there. Its that simple.
Exactly one post.
He must have read your mind!
Do I get a cookie?
yep. A fortune cookie! :>)
A (imported) fortune cookie from my favorite Chinese restaurant!
Hey, we're all mind readers tonight!
LOL
I think most Freepers are squared away in their thinking (even those who oppose Miers:) when it comes to common sense about how the world works. That has been my experience. However, there are some posters that just don't get anything. Perhaps I am just a malcontent magnet:)
And please don't tell me that a tiger can change it's stripes.
"Wal-Mart's critics say the company destroys local economies, putting small competitors out of business; that it abuses workers with low wages and paltry benefits; and that it drives urban sprawl and all the environmental damage that goes with it."
This whole issue is ludicrous to me because I live in western WA where they really complain about Wal-Mart but tolerate Microsoft's unfair treatment. Part of Gates $40 billion can be attributed to his hiring of temps on a permanent basis so he wouldn't be forced to pay benefits.
Nevertheless, we have two Wal-Marts within 40 miles of each other and another one planned that's even closer to home. The one store, north of me, is enormous, is next to Home Depot and has a parking lot that would easily accommodate stadium goers. Guess Wal-Mart isn't as bad as some people make them out to be. ;-)
