The original informant who prompted the terror alert on New York City's subways last week is sticking to his story, and there is no basis to conclude the threat was a hoax, sources involved in the investigation of the plot told ABC News.
When last spoken to by interrogators, the original informant has remained firm in his statement that there was in fact a plot.
Citing government sources, several media outlets reported today that information that led to heightened security for the New York City transit system was a hoax.
Those reports said three men arrested in Iraq with suspected links to the possible plot had been interviewed and underwent lie detector tests that showed they knew nothing about such a plan.
But as of earlier today, authorities had not spoken to the original informant since the three captives were interrogated and told authorities there was no plot.

Looks like more questions, than answers.
I hate when I stop panicking unnecessarily.
I didn't think it was a hoax. Unlike certain liberals, I take the Islamic Jihad seriously.
ROTFL! Too funny!
First it's a hoax. Then it's not a hoax. They're having fun with this.
I love Fox, but they oblige when told to kill stories because for national security reasons.
Actually, first it was real and specific, but unconfirmed.
Then it was a hoax.
Now it's not a hoax.
It sounds like there were two different sets of government people involved. One group talked with the original informant, but not the other three suspects, and a different group talked to the three suspects, but not the original informant. Then the two sets of government people didn't talk with each other.
Looks like we have a ways to go, before we are coordinated amongst our own government agencies.
The top people at DHS who are calling it a hoax were the same people who were calling their children living in NYC last week and telling them not to take the subway for the next two weeks. DHS has been charged will killing this story for some reason.
And the president of OU is still trying to kill the story. Interesting how there are no longer reports that the Oklahom suicide bomb had a remote control detonator.
Certainly boosting confidence in the security agencies and the politicians.
Almost reminds one of three stooges running around blindfolded, bumping into each other and poking each others' eyes by mistake. Only not very funny.
I don't doubt that this group intended to blow up or behead somebody. The question is whether it was the New York subways or something more local to Iraq.
In any case, even if this group wasn't planning to visit New York, I'm sure there are others who would like to attack the subways. They are a natural target.
Saying it's a hoax is a great way for these jokers to save face when their plans are discovered in time to be thwarted.
'Did not. Did too! Did not! You did too!!' And the department of Homelessness Severity just smiles and porks out.
