Newsview: Bush Could Lose Rove Over Probe
Newsview, AP Breaking News ^ | October 11, 2005 | AP Tom Raum

Posted on 10/11/2005 2:39:14 PM PDT by YaYa123

For nearly a quarter century, Karl Rove has been George Bush's political mentor. Bush calls him "the architect," the "boy genius." Others have called him "Bush's brain."

Now, with a federal grand jury nipping at Rove's heels in its CIA leak investigation, the president may have to contemplate the previously unthinkable: managing without his right-hand man.

Rove helped Bush create a political persona and steered him to victory in two Texas gubernatorial and two presidential races. He polished Bush's message, nurtured ties with conservatives, oversaw crisis control and helped frame major policy initiatives.

"He's the president's alter ego on political and domestic policy," said veteran Republican strategist Charles Black. While Rove's most important past service to Bush — as a campaign strategist — is no longer needed by Bush, "he's still very valuable in terms of running domestic policy," Black said.

Tony Snow says Rove has no problem.
But leave to the AP in San Fran to portray doom and gloom.

Please place this in the "Wishful Thinking Section" or the "Keith Olbermann gets off on it archives".

Yes, we all know that Rove couldn't have outed Plame because she herself wasn't hiding her status among neighbors and friends and because Wilson did so in his book -- all of which occurred BEFORE Rove made any comment. Plus, he didn't mention her by name. Indictment my a**!

I'm not familiar with this AP Breaking News category, but can I ask what is the news? This entire piece seems to be an excuse for rehashing the whole liberal-biased, selective-truth narrative of the thing. Is the new news supposedly that prosecutors have told [Rove] they can no longer assure him he'll escape indictment?

CNN did a piece like this last night. I was waiting for their spin on the Louis Freeh book and had to suffer through it. So many distortions I had to turn the sound off.

I am hoping this all goes away for Rove and Libby, just to hear the collective screams from the left.

How many witnesses before a grand jury are told otherwise? Probably only those with immunity, IMO.

all I can figure is, everytime AP wants to rehash a bash, they call it "breaking news".

If only... If only Karl got tossed under the bus and Karen came back from her exile and took over in the WH. Or better yet, Karen Hughes got nominated to the Supreme Court. That would be worth it just to watch her take apart the boobs at the hearings. That would be like sending James Carville up there only a thousand times classier and better looking. Bet you wouldn't hear too much bickering about that nomination. IMO the downfall of this admin was letting that one get away. They've been adrift ever since.

Just do a google search on Tom Raum. He has nothing good to say about this President nor the GOP. Raum's about as objective as Eva Braun was to Adolph Hitler.

Suggest we chalk this one up to a Dem operative masquerading as a reporter (nothing new here).

BTW.... Shouldn't we start an enemies list? Dick Nixon had a pretty good one. Maybe if we start one we could just add every single AP reporter to it.

the president may have to contemplate

Newsview can get back to me when they can report some news of actual events, or at least actual evidence of something, rather than speculation of what may have to be contemplated.

The dim libs are sitting on the edge of their seats, they think they have Rove in their sights. They can taste a victory. BUT...they made this story up. Like I said, they think if they repeat over and over, it becomes the truth. My opinion, they are sick in the head.

Yeah. I've gotten it on the highest authority that there is NO WAY GW Bush can be reelected in 2008. No chance at all.

I expect to see it on AP any time now!

Unfortunately, in our time the U.S. Constitution is by no means the highest authority.

A couple of weeks ago, Bubba blurted out that if they could get rid of Rove, they could get the Whitehouse again. Musta been the medicine.

I believe this whole Plame thing was a plan to do just that. Its' MO is similar to Rathergate. Freepers stay alert. Every plan has a flaw and I think that flaw is Matt Cooper. Can't get much closer to Hillary than being married to her media advisor and best friend, Mandy Grunwald (Daughter of Henry, OP ED for Time, Inc).
