In general, I'd rather listen to Yoko's primal scream stuff than Paul McCartney's post-Beatle pop fluff. And that rhymes.

Abbey Road - one of my favorites. I forget the one song where it's almost all music. There's also one where crickets are chirping at the end. Those songs used to relax me as a teenager and I still think Maxwell Silver Hammer is morbidly funny.

From the bits of the article I read sounded it like she was the proverbial turd in the punchbowl. Which come to think of it pretty much sums up her entire existence.

Even if you didn't like it, that's fine. I agree with you on the chord progression. I'm just an old die-hard Beatles fan (for better or for worse) and especially liked Paul McCartney. I do like a lot of Lennon's stuf though (Julia, Beautiful Boy, etc.).

Thanks for the stats. When I was a child, I preferred Paul. But I wised up and now prefer John.

Steve Allen, I think it was, who on his TV show in the fifties, mocked rock'n'roll lyrics, especially doo wop...

I remember that show! Sitting behind his desk, Allen stared into the camera as though he was about to read a serious news story and said: "Be bop a lua, she's my baby, be bop a lua, and I don't mean maybe..."

It was hilarious!

it was an LP so I couldn't fast forward

Uh, most LP players have a feature that allows you to lift the needle off a record and move it to a different spot. And most LP's have black spaces conveniently placed in between each track that you can put the needle down onto.

;-)

Bashing yoko (which may be redundant in some way) always reminds me of the Roger Waters' "The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking." Although I'm not sure why.

An angel on a Harley
Pulls across to greet a fellow rolling stone
Puts his bike up on it's stand
Leans back and then extends
A scarred and greasy hand...he said

Hells Angel :"How ya doin bro?...where ya been?...where ya goin?"
Then he takes your hand
In some strange Californian handshake
And breaks the bone

Angels Moll :"Have a nice day"

A housewife from Encino
Whose husband's on the golf course
With his book of rules
Breaks and makes a 'U' and idles back
To take a second look at you
You flex you rod
Fish takes the hook
Sweet vodka and tobacco in her breath
Another number in your little black book

These are the pros and cons of hitchhiking

Oh babe, I must be dreaming
I'm standing on the leading edge
The Eastern seaboard spread before my eyes
"Jump" says Yoko "Oh No!
I'm too scared and too good looking" I cried
"Go on",she says
"Why don't you give it a try?
Why prolong the agony all men must die"

Do you remember Dick Tracy?
Do you remember Shane?

Joey :"And mother wants you"

Could you see him selling tickets
Where the buzzard circles over

Joey :"Shane"

The body on the plain
Did you understand the music Yoko
Or was it all in vain?

Joey :"Shane"

The bitch said something mystical "Hero"
So I stepped back on the curb again

These are the pros and cons of hitchhiking

Oh babe, I must be dreaming again

These are the pros and cons of hitchhiking

Thank you! Now I know what was missing in my life!

I hope for all concerned that "Wing" is a make-a-buck joke like that Vienamese guy from American Idol.

"Best Act in the World Today" Coldplay?

I did not get that one, either. They got lucky with a couple of songs, and ever since, their music sounds like the same couple of songs (whiny, poor pitiful me...yucko).

Oh my word. Feeling the Space indeed.

This was her answer to Reagan's Star Wars.

This one features such songs as, "What A Bastard The World Is" and "I Felt Like Smashing My Face In A Clear Glass Window."

Her albums are like a teenager's diary. How many of these things has she made?

meow....hiss...hiss -- Are you suggesting Yoko's singing sound like a couple of tomcats having a discussion in the middle of the night?

I was suggesting her remarks were catty and she's an alley cat in general, but yours works too.

Yoko Ono is in no position to criticize anyone's musical talents.

A good producer can get the best out of any musician. McCartney's latest album was produced by Nigel Godding (Radiohead, Beck), a guy who wasn't afraid to tell McCartney to can a song if he didn't like it. The end result is his best album in many years.
