COACH MARCUS BORDEN WOULD RATHER QUIT THAN DUMP THE PREGAME PRAYER!!This man should be applauded.
The parents who fought him should be ashamed.

Is there any question as to why Supreme Court nominations are so crucial?

I think a case like this would actually help someone like Harriet Miers.
My focus though is on the issue at hand.
This Coach and the parents who belittled and pushed him.

I saw this story on my local news last night, Fox5News - New York City.
I think it should become a national story.
Coach Borden is a hero.

There is no "separation of church and state" in the constitution short of the state establishing a particular religion as the state's.

"Some players feel that, if they don't take part in the prayer or they don't share the coach's religion, they might not get to play that day, they might somehow be disfavored or somehow excluded," Boston said."
So they think he's gonna put in the worst players because they pray? What a bunch of crap!

I think it should become a national story. Yes it should. The silent majority needs to learn how to speak up.

What "federal law" did he violate? My Constitution says Congress Shall Make No Law.

Well now they don't have to worry their little heads about it anymore... The coach won't be making those choices... And they deserve the consequences...

He may have violated a court's opinion, but certainly no federal law. He was not told by the state to institute prayers -- it came of his own volition.
As to the players/parents who complained: whatever happened to being strong enough to take a stand and not participate, even if it did bring repurcussions (which is foolish in this case)? Instead, they try to have everyone coddle them.
It's ridiculous.

Most assured I do agree. THere is something Wrong when the
very institution established to teach youth how to read the
Bible in the Latin,Greek, and Hebrew texts and to understand mans duty to God. Since we th epeople allowed the Courts
to erect a wall of separation to destroy this nation. (1947
Everson v. Board of Education) When our public schools send a message Christians are NOT allowed-- and Christians are NOT allowed the Free Exercise of their religion once recognized by our Government and Courts then we are NO longer that nation established 1776-1791. ANd I must disagree this is NOTa local issue but a national sin and
it will be judged and punished in this world by national
calamities as George Mason ,and Luther Martin both stated and affirmed at the Constituional Convention 1787,1788.

I truly hope the coach returns triumphant, and I'm not at all surprised that the anti-religious bigots in this case did not have any sons on the team. How typical of the Busybody Class: they are not happy when anyone, anywhere is doing something of which they disapprove. So they sue, or threaten to sue, and the Constitutional rights that our ancestors fought for are casually discarded like peace offerings of trinkets to pagan warriors.

"Nancy Halupka, president of the Quarterback Club, East Brunswick's football booster organization, said the parents who contacted Magistro do not have sons on the football team. "
This is what gets me. The whiners do not even have sons on the team! What business is it to them.

Unfortunately I live in ultra liberal East Brunswick. The town's base is largely Jewish Democrat so I am not surprised to see this happening here. While I do not have kids and if I did, I would not send them to the public schools, I am very proud of this coach and the students. I truly find the left despicable.
To: new yorker 77
I would be proud to have this man of principle coaching my sons! I note that none of the players' parents were complaining.
I can understand Coach Borden's position and do not fault him for his stand. However, many young men will miss the fine example he has displayed in his coaching career.
Administrators and school boards dare not do what is right and support this man. That is what we get for accepting federal funds for local schools.
Sad.....and bad for America.
