This man should be applauded.
The parents who fought him should be ashamed.
Is there any question as to why Supreme Court nominations are so crucial?
The insanity continues...
There is no "separation of church and state" in the constitution short of the state establishing a particular religion as the state's.
"Some players feel that, if they don't take part in the prayer or they don't share the coach's religion, they might not get to play that day, they might somehow be disfavored or somehow excluded," Boston said."
So they think he's gonna put in the worst players because they pray? What a bunch of crap!
They feel??? We're seeing a generation of wimps being raised.
This is the biggest bunch of bull durham I have seen in years. How dare these people? What kind of people are they? Have they no shame? Apparently not.
Hey, Coach Marcus, God bless you and screw the rest of these helots.
Get the b******s names and publicize them. Halloween is coming up soon. Trick or Treat.
I would be proud to have this man of principle coaching my sons! I note that none of the players' parents were complaining.
I can understand Coach Borden's position and do not fault him for his stand. However, many young men will miss the fine example he has displayed in his coaching career.
Administrators and school boards dare not do what is right and support this man. That is what we get for accepting federal funds for local schools.
Sad.....and bad for America.
In 1992, a federal appeals court ruled that student-led prayers that are nonsectarian and nonproselytizing can be permitted at graduations, but not before football games, which the court deemed not serious enough to be solemnized by prayer
You.ve got to be kidding me!!!!!!! Since when did the courts become arbiters determining what type of event is "serious" enough to warrant prayer. This is a theological question the court is attempting to answer. I wonder what area of Scripture they're basing this ruling upon.
Well it's certainly nice to know now that God does not desure corporate prayer for something as inconsequential as a football game.
Most amazing that NONE of those who complained had children who played on the team. If the QB of this team is a real leader he would keep the team together and himself lead the prayers before meals and before each game. If he was really ballsy he would ask all the players (including himself) to kneel on the field and pray before the game.
It would be fun to watch the heads of the Godless freaks on the left explode in rage.
Isn't it telling how frightened these people are of God?
By standing up for his principles and his beliefs, Borden's resignation may have a greater impact on his players than if he had stayed. He's taught the team about football for years. Now he's teaching them something about life.
Though it is not stated in the article, Coach Marcus Borden is a Catholic. A Godly man that even a Protestant like myself must admire.
Borden didn't think the pre-game prayers violated anyone's rights, and he resigned in protest. "I believe that I made the right decision," Borden, a Catholic, said in an Associated Press story. "I believe I made a decision based on principle. I believe that's who I am."
