...is not licensed to carry a concealed handgun in Texas...

If she were looking to concealed carry, I don't think she would have chosen that .45 wheel gun.

For a good example how Kennedy snookered the anti-abortion element, read this: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1500378/posts

I think it best to keep that example in mind when all of this fuzzy news is floating about.

---The MSM must be dissappointed that she didn't own slaves.---

According to some she's almost old enough.

Dianne Fienstein owns a gun too.

So do lots of lefties.

Not saying Miers is a Lefty, but this means nothing.

Maybe we'll find out she once adopted a dog from the Humane Society...and all the dog lovers out there will jump on board.

Does it bother anyone else that there is a record on what caliber weapon you own? Is there a database?

"Hypocrisy is not limited to politicians when it comes to the Second Amendment.

For Example, well-known Washington-based columnist, Carl Rowan, often wrote about the ills of firearms ownership. Until, that is, he shot and wounded a teenager who trespassed on his property.

The white teenaged boy claimed he wanted to try Rowan's swimming pool. Rowan, an African-American, retaliated with deadly force using a firearm.

That's when the news came out that Carl Rowan, gun-control advocate, actually possessed a license to own firearms."

"is not licensed to carry a concealed handgun in Texas."

So?? This is a set up response...How you know she ever packed concealed?? You only need the license if you conceal!

Fox picked this off the AP wire. It was written by Jim Vertuno (Associated Press Writer). He does a lot of sports and should stick to that.

As was mentioned this isn't news at all, it was talked about last week in a story quoting a former colleague of Miers.

That would be William Raspberry, right? But I thought he was from the D.C. vicinity.

I admire her choice in a .45 revolver

I heard it wasn't her choice, but that it was a handgun purchased for her by her brother.

I STILL want a tried and true, DEMONSTRATED hard-core conservative who FULLY supports our 2nd Amendment rights.

When I hear that she went out and bought an AR-15, I'll feel more comfortable about this lady's conservative qualifications.

In the mean time, how about withdrawing Harriet's name, and putting up the NRA's Sandra Froman for the Supreme Court?

No data base.

This was just a story passed on by her brother, i believe.

Absolutely my pleasure.

Would anyone listen, I would shout this from the roof tops and have it as the headline in every "newspaper" [?] in the nation ... daily. ;)

I agree with you, just because she owned a 45 doesn't mean a hill of beans. I what to know her true feelings about the right to bear arms! How would she have ruled in the Emerson case? How would she rule in cases dealing with 50 Cal's or semi-auto rifles with 30 rd magazines/collapsible stock? Big deal like you most excellently point out Di-Fi owns a gun. Americans need to know where she stands on the 2nd Amendment!

That's when the news came out that Carl Rowan, gun-control advocate, actually possessed a license to own firearms.

IIRC, he didn't have a license and was only able to avoid prosecution by asserting his Patent of Nobility.

Big gun for a little Lady. N-frame smith 45 is a large pistol, unless it was one of the old 1917's.

It was given to her, she owned it briefly, developed no enthusiasm, took no training.

Some enthusiast.

Sounds like my left-of-Steinem gun-fearing aunt.
