Minneapolis police are investigating an early-morning crime spree that left a man and woman walking naked near a freeway, the woman shot and another woman raped.

Police spokesman Ron Reier, speaking to reporters Monday, called it the "most confusing set of circumstances" he's seen.

Police were called by the State Patrol about 5:30 a.m. to investigate the report of the couple walking near Interstate 35W and Portland Ave. Reier said early information indicates the two had been robbed near the woman's home in the 1800 block of 2nd Ave. S. by a suspect or suspects. They were then carjacked there and the woman was shot, though the wound not life threatening.

"At this point, we have a robbery, we have carjacking, we have at least assault in the second degree where the female victim was shot. We have a burglary, we have an auto theft, we have a rape and we have an arson," Reier said.

The kidnapped female said the perps where somewhat nice until they got to the ATM with her card and PW, and found out she didn't have much money. Then they launched. It's a miracle they weren't killed.

so they were "Minnesota Nice" until they found out they had

So we can figure the suspects are some minority, because the Star & Sickle didn't publish descriptions. The neighborhood this happened in (18th & 2nd South) is pretty rough, and it's pretty mixed up there. Black, hispanic or native wouldn't suprise me a bit.

It must be "Celebrate the Diversity Week" at the Strib. This coupled with the story of the Hmong rapes makes a person wonder whats next. Mpls is quickly becoming Detroit on the Mississippi.

Mayor R.T. Rybak shoulders a lot of the blame for what's going on in Minneapolis.

Look up liberal pantywaist in the dictionary and you'll find his picture. :>)

From PowerLine August 27:

This summer Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak contributed memorably to the city's collection of fatuous quotes on the subject of crime when he assured citizens that "Minneapolis is a safe city for those not involved in high-risk lifestyles." Among the high-risk activities leading to criminal victimization this summer have been sleeping at home in bed and riding a city bus. Today's Star Tribune adds another installment to the saga of citizens irresponsibly engaging in high-risk behavior: "3 more shootings add to anger over crime."

We can add walking home from grocery shopping to the list of "high-risk activities."

Hi Minnesocold! Good to "see" ya. :)

Powerline's got some great stuff.

Time for me to engage in some high-risk behavior by going to bed.

I'm going to bump the Keegan's Freeper/PW meetup in the a.m. Looking forward to seeing you and the other fine folks!

I was mugged by two thugs while walking home back in junes. The two creeps kept following me until I made it to the door, and then they jumped me. And this was in DINKYTOWN.
