Rise and Fall of The New Orleans Police Department
BayouBuzz.com ^ | 10/10/2005 | Jeff Crouere

Posted on 10/10/2005 3:07:50 PM PDT by VRWCTexan

Business owners are complaining that looting is continuing in many areas of the city, even with so few people in New Orleans. If crimes are being committed with a reduced population, assistance from other police forces and the National Guard, what is going to happen when more people come back to the city and all this help leaves? It could be that there is a severe lack of officers.

Beside the 249 who have been dismissed for desertion, there are allegations surfacing that hundreds more are on the payroll as “phantom officers,” people who are receiving checks and used to bolster numbers but not really serving on the force.

Give the citizens their guns back so they can protect themselves.

All of this must be laid squarely on the doorstep of Racketeer in Chief Nagin.

Ever wonder how a public official like Nagin can afford to instantly purchase a house in Dallas and move his family? Ask the NOPD (very appropriated acronym, by the way).

Seems to me that the protection industry in New Orleans needs federal regulation to protect consumers of police services.

I heard a news report this afternoon that says during
the storm some NOPD officers broke into an auto
dealership and stole 200 automobiles.

Yep. They were Cadillac's too - NOPD Officers have to ride first class.

Yet another GBF?

George Bush's Fault?

He should have known the police would fold in the hurricane and beat a man over the weekend.

The office of the President also comes with phychic powers you have never seen. ooOOOoo

---Why does Ray Nagin want people back so bad? Oh, thats right. He is hiding in his new home, safe from it all. He needs to get the criminal element back so that the corruption can continue and flourish and he can fill his pockets.

I'm not sure I totally buy the story that he wanted to stay but that the mayor forced him out -

I suspect he knows a lot about fake payrolls etc and is wanting to try and put some distance ahead of the Feds coming in.

The Feds had already taken full control of the N.O. "public housing" commission due to all corruption before Katrina blew into town.

Actually I read a news item (on thedeadpelican.com ?) where the auto dealer stated that the cops broke in and took the cars "BEFORE" Katrina struck - besides the 41 new caddys they also took customer's cars that were in for repairs etc.

A number of these stolen cars have been located here in Houston and other distant cities - these were not just used to "patrol" after Katrina - but also to bug out of the city.
