McCain, the admiral's son got to stay in different quarters than the rest of the guys..
He seems to have a real problem working for his own team.

1. His health..the cancer issue, especially skin cancer..and at his age...it would become a dominant issue..and people are not comfortable with electing Presidents with possible health porblems. Cheney is far healthier than McCain, yet were the VP to run, the "three heart attacks" would be heard ad nauseum.
2. Cindy...no not Sheehan, but McCain's wife. I 2000, she was a media darling...she's attractive, photogenic...and was all over the place. After that she had a breakdown of sorts..I think it was drug related..but she had disappeared from the public view...she would be a huge problem, and IMHO could NOT handle the stress of the campaign.
DOCTOR 1: Holy Moly! That thing is right next to his brain!
DOCTOR 2: Yea, it's very close. We will have to remove part of the brain.
DOCTOR 1: Darn! And this guy was a US Senator. Hey, have you noticed how small his brain is?
DOCTOR 2: Hmm, it sure is tiny. Hey, this guy has dog tags on. He was a prisoner in Vietnam. Take a peek and see what they say.
DOCTOR 1: They say "if found please return to Lincoln Savings & Loan". What the heck does that mean?
DOCTOR 2: Well, I got it all out and a big chunk of his brain too. He will probably act a littl weird from this point on. Should we tell him.
DOCTOR 1: Hell no! Did you see those two big metal ball bearings he had when he came in here? He kept rolling them around in his hand and mumbling about "the strawberries in the Senate cloak room". He might throw those at us! Look, even as he is asleep he's rolling those ball bearings around in his hand.
DOCTOR 2: What's that tatoo on his butt say?
DOCTOR 1: It says "Arlen and John". Odd.
DOCTOR 2: OK, we are done. Have some intern come in and sew this guy up. I don't want to be here when he wakes up. And he is starting to wake up!
DOCTOR 1: Me either.
McCain (mumbling): "Oh Hillary, push you finger in back there a little more. Yea, yea....."
He would not have my vote.
I thought the "protecting terrorists" jazz was simply a statutory set of limits on how far interrogators can go in extracting information. Isn't it a good thing to avoid state-sponsored barbarism?
Well let me be the first to say - WELCOME TO FREE REPUBLIC.
As I think it over, I am hard-pressed to think of policies over which John McCain and George W. Bush disagree (other than the obvious one of who should have been elected president before). Are there any major issues on which they differ?
There is always a connection. Always. For every politician that works the field, as it were.
When President Bush came to Indianapolis a few months ago to talk about an issue of importance to our nation, he spent long minutes (I think well over one half hour) with a family that belongs to our church who had just lost a little child.
This child prayed for PResident Bush everyday...and a bodyguard of the Govenor, a friend of the child's family, told the govenor (Mitch Daniels, who used to work for President Bush before leaving to set up a run for govenor here) about this little girl. The governor informed President Bush....and President Bush requested time with this little family.
It was a tearful, deep and touching moment for all of them.
Of course it was done privately, no fanfare, no pictures but it was picked up by our local newspaper.
The connection was the bodyguard....the caring, the heart of it, was our President. Who stood to gain nothing, personally, as media was not included. The mother reported the story to the newspaper.
I would not have even known about it, except a fellow FReeper saw the story and sent it to me.
I would love to see a poll that asks, "If McCain was the nominee in '08 against any democrat, would you:
A) Vote for him
B) Vote for the Donk
C) Vote third party
D) You and all of your conservative friends stay home, eat popcorn and watch him go down in flames.
Me? I stay home and watch the Repubs learn a hard lesson. You give us conservatives, you will get our support. You give us milquetoast backstabbing RINO's, you do not get our support.
If the MSM is not touting dems, they are praising total nut cases.
I'd rather have a known liberal despot in the office than a phoney GOP "conservative". At least that will make it plain who is in charge and whom they serve.
As I've said elsewhere, if McCain is on the GOP ticket, I'll pull the lever for Hitlery as it's at least a more honest vote than McCain would be.

Well.. then I would say sit back and enjoy Hillary for 8 years. If you don't like Bush's SC picks so far, just wait till you see Hillary's.
Bush definitely was not shy about appearing with McCain at different campaign events in '04.
Just because he was nice to your family does not make him presidential material. I would not vote for him for dog catcher.
While I definitely don't agree with him on some major issues, I'm more scared of Hillary in the oval office than him.
