A device found in the dumpster near a Georgia Tech dormitory on the East Campus led to a temporary evacuation Monday morning.
School spokesperson Amille Gambino told 11Alive News the device appeared to be some water bottle with fireworks attached to them.
Atlanta fire and bomb squad teams were dispatched to the scene at 118 Bobby Dodd Way to handle the situation. About 11 a.m., authorities exploded the device.
More details as they become available.
LOL!! That's worth at least a few hours of Fox Breaking News Alerts
"Water bottle with fireworks"? Yeah, that oughta keep the wing nuts pacified for a while. See, just fireworks. Now run along to class, nothing to see here...
Lets presume there was an explosive gas in that bottle. Dumpsters and all the stuff in them make some nasty shrapnel.
(((((GASP!!!))))
Thanks for the info michigander.
It was meant for Bobby Cox.
Hmmmmm... never heard of that one before....
When I was in school, we had some idiots drop little flashcrackers down the center of the dorm stairwell when everybody was coming back from a firedrill. Nobody got hurt, but it scared the pi$$ out of a lot of kids, not only because of the loud noise in the stairwell, but also because they had wrapped the flashrackers with those little packets of ketchup you get at Mickey-D's. Big Bang and Ketchup splattered everywhere... good grief, everybody's ears were ringing and they thought they were dying. It was a BAD practical joke, but nobody was caught. (NO, it wasn't ME... I was still outside when it happened.)
Anyway, a firecracker water-bomb in the dumpster sounds like just another bad college prank gone awry...
JMHO
Impressive, eh?
Wonder what was in the bottles ? The OU guy had lots of plastic bottles in his car... Probably just a prank but who knows these days.
LOL, must have been a dud. Probably got collected with the other litter lying about.

Details like how much duct tape was used?
Any recent or current Georgia Tech students know if these are the "Foreign Student" dorms?
An aborted Halloween prank?
