Current Well Status October 6, 2005 -We finished drilling Ma'anit #1 on July 14 and for the past ten weeks have been conducting completion operations. We have what appears to be a significant discovery of both oil and gas in a number of different zones, over a 2,100-foot interval between 12,500 and 14,600 feet deep. This has been determined through a number of different indicators, including (but not limited to):

Increased penetration rates while drilling (drilling breaks) with natural gas shows on the chromatograph (measures natural gas components) Microscopic oil and gas stains on sample rock cuttings during drilling (sample shows) Asphaltic rock cuttings that burn when lit with a match Gas bubbles and oil stains on the mud pit while drilling Pockets of gas that ignited and flared for several minutes at a time, when the well was being swabbed Skim of oil in sample jars taken from fluids being swabbed We have been trying to confirm our apparent discovery by actual production tests of oil and gas, which has been very difficult for us in this well. During completion operations, we discovered that the volcanic zones that lie between and among our possible productive zones appear to be conducting water into the wellbore, The entry of water from the volcanics is problematic because the volcanic water is heavier than oil and gas and therefore prevents the entry of oil and gas into the wellbore. This situation required us to do several cement ‘squeeze jobs’ to cut off the water penetration at different locations. Not all the volcanics have been isolated, but we were able to isolate two of the potentially productive dolomite zones from the volcanics using the cement.

We initially tested the first of the isolated zones that was potentially gas productive and found it to have too high a formation water saturation to be commercial. We have now moved to one of the possibly oil productive zones and started its completion and testing. The initial results are encouraging, but still inconclusive, and it could be several more weeks before we have sufficient information regarding this particular zone to decide on our next steps.

We continue to remain excited and encouraged about the potential at Ma’anit #1. Unfortunately, the additional time and complications encountered in the completion procedures have cost significantly more than budgeted.

Right now the rig has been put on standby and we are discussing with our drilling contractor confirmation of that status for the remainder of October, so we can better consider all our alternatives.

A little background for other folks who havn't the slightest idea why something like this would be posted on FR.

About Zion Oil
Zion Oil & Gas is a private U.S.-based corporation formed under Delaware corporation law, exploring for oil and gas in Israel on licensed and permitted areas of approximately 223,00 acres located onshore between Tel Aviv and Haifa. The license is on trend with oil production in Syria and a recent oil discovery in Israel as shown in the Oil & Gas Journal map on the right. We have drilled one well and intend to drill more high-risk oil and gas exploratory wells on the license. In the event of a commercial discovery, following recoupment of certain exploratory costs, we intend to donate 6% of our gross revenues from the license to two charitable trusts to be established by us, one in Israel and one in the U.S. Click here to find out more about Zion Oil & Gas. Completion Operations
October 6, 2005 - We finished drilling the Ma'anit #1 on July 14 and for the past ten weeks have been conducting completion operations. We have what appears to be a significant discovery of both oil and gas in a number of different oil and gas zones in fractured dolomite, over a 2,100-foot interval between 12,500 and 14,600 feet deep. We have been trying to confirm our apparent discovery by actual production tests of oil and gas, which has been very difficult for us in this well due to the entry of water from volcanic zones that intermix with our prospective pay zones. Not all the volcanics have been isolated, but we were able to isolate two of the potentially productive dolomite zones from the volcanics using cement. We initially tested the first of the isolated zones that was potentially gas productive and found it to have too high a formation water saturation to be commercial. Is this necessarily a salted mine, so to speak? I mean, I have heard there's oil to be found in the Middle East :0)

They're going to go down a few more feet, take a right, and drill that sucker all the way to Saudi :)

Meanwhile, at the other oil exploration site in Israel, an actual public-traded company will be actually commercially producing oil and gas:

Breaking the Treasure Code

Prophecy - Signs
Saturday, October 08, 2005
Jack Kinsella - Omega Letter Editor

Since the birth of Islam in the 5th century AD, the Muslim Middle East has been the exclusive domain of the descendants of Ishmael and Esau. Under the banner of the crescent moon, Islam at one time controlled a vast empire that extended well into Europe. The Ottoman Empire (1417-1917) under Suleiman the Magnificent, (1520-1566) was the most powerful empire in the world.

"And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation." (Genesis 17:20)

Later, when Ishmael's nephew, Esau, discovered that his brother Jacob had usurped his blessing, Esau went to his father Isaac, and begged;

"Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.

And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above; And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck." (Genesis 27:39-40)

The fulfillment of the promises of Scripture to Ishmael and Jacob are nothing short of astonishing in their specificity.

Tracing the geneology of Ishmael (Genesis 25:12-18) and that of Esau (Genesis 27:38-39) establish that the descendants of Ishmael and Esau make up the modern-day Arab world. Most of the world's proven oil reserves are to be found in the Arab Middle East. The Arab world accounts for some 99.4% of the total land mass of the Middle East. And what they control, they control absolutely.

During his reign, he more than doubled the Ottoman territories inherited from his father, creating a multi-national multilingual empire stretching from Vienna in the west to the upper Arab peninsula in the east, the Crimea in the north to the Sudan in the south.

Architectural growth abounded. He had public baths, bridges, religious schools, and grand mosque complexes erected. Economic wealth spilled over into other fine arts. At the Palace Studio, 29 painters, half of them European, created a new aesthetic direction with their miniature paintings.

After Suleiman, the Ottoman Empire fell into decline before finally being defeated by the Allies in the First World War. After the war, the victorious Allies divided up the Ottoman Empire into individual states, including Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Transjordan.

The Islamic Empire of the Ottomans was replaced by the Islamic oil sheikdoms, but their oil afforded them wealth and global influence that would have made Suleiman green with envy.

God kept His promise to Ishmael and Esau.

There's an old joke about Moses wandering in the desert for 40 years – only to end up in the one place in the Middle East without any oil.

John Brown, a born-again Christian and founder of Zion Oil & Gas of Dallas, believes that God also made a promise to the sons of Israel that will take the humor out of the punchline. The Twelve Tribes were each given a section of Israel as inheritance, according to the Book of Genesis.

Deuteronomy says "Let Asher be blessed ... and let him dip his foot in oil." (33:24)

Genesis says "Joseph is a fruitful bough by a well ... blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that couches beneath shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head." (49:22-26)

Mapping the tribes' Biblical territory shows that Asher's area resembles a giant foot "dipped' so to speak, into the top or 'head' of the area allocated to Joseph's son Manasseh. According to Brown, the oil is right there, where Asher's 'foot' dips into Joseph's 'head'.

Brown says he used a strategy explained to him by James Spillman, an evangelical minister and Bible scholar who lectured at his local church, to determine exactly where on the biblical map the oil might be. (Spillman's research will be the subject of tomorrow's Omega Letter).

What separates Brown from most other Middle East oil prospectors, however, are the humanitarian principles at the root of his long-awaited "Project Joseph".

"I've put all the money I've earned in my entire life into this project," Brown explains earnestly, "And all my shares go to a nonprofit trust to feed the poor and hungry. Anything I earn from this will be given to charity. We're here because I know this is my purpose and destiny in life, to help Israel with its material needs and do what I can, as a Christian, to help."

Over the next two decades Brown slowly assembled world experts on oil and gas, to put scientific power behind his personal faith in his visions. And his team of highly educated, skeptical, rational scientific minds: engineers, geologists and gas and oil exploration professionals, all believe, as he does, in the whereabouts of oil in Israel.

In reading their website releases, I note that Zion Oil is careful not to overstate the situation. Still, the signs, so far, are good.

Israel produces almost no oil and imports nearly all of its oil needs, currently running around 274,000 barrels per day.

Traditionally, major oil import sources have included Egypt, the North Sea, West Africa, and Mexico. In recent years, however, Israel has stepped up its imports from Russia and the Caspian region (Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, etc.) and now reportedly gets a majority of its oil from the former Soviet Union

Israel's Petroleum Commission has estimated that the country could contain 5 billion barrels of oil reserves, most likely located underneath natural gas reserves.

Geologically, Israel appears to be connected to the oil-rich Paleozoic petroleum system stretching from Saudi Arabia through Iraq to Syria.

In April 2005, Zion Oil & Gas, Inc., based in Dallas and Tel Aviv, began drilling at the Ma'anit-1 well, located approximately 37.5 miles north-northeast of Tel Aviv.

Israel has sizeable deposits of oil shale, perhaps 600 million tons recoverable, with average production of about 9,000 barrels per day, according to the most pessimistic analyses.

Zion Oil founder John Brown believes there is more oil than that at that point in Israel where Asher's 'foot' touches Joseph's 'head'.

Of his favorite son, Joseph, Jacob prophesied, "Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb: The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren." (49:25-26)

Each of Jacob's sons were apportioned a share of the Promised Land, as noted previously. The shares apportioned to Joseph and Asher came with a unique promise of blessings from the deep.

Note several things here. Joseph is to be blessed with the "blessings of the deep that lieth under" the land of Israel. The blessings shall be "on the head of Joseph."

Deuteronomy 33:13 repeats the blessing and the prophecy: "And of Joseph he said, Blessed of the LORD be His land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath."

Finally, Ezekiel 47:13-14 allots Joseph a double portion of the land; "Thus saith the Lord GOD; This shall be the border, whereby ye shall inherit the land according to the twelve tribes of Israel: Joseph shall have two portions."

Of Asher, Jacob prophesied, "Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties." (Genesis 49:20)

In addition, Deuteronomy 33:24 records, "And of Asher he said, Let Asher be blessed with children; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him DIP HIS FOOT IN OIL."

I've been reading a fascinating book on this subject entitled; "Breaking the Treasure Code" by James Spillman and Steven M. Spillman.

James Spillman began working on breaking the Scriptural 'code' that reveals where Israel's God-given treasure is buried back in 1973. In 1981, Spillman published a book detailing his findings.

In recent years, work by Zion Oil and others have found evidence of enough oil to make Israel a major global oil producer on a par with Saudi Arabia.

There exists the possibility of a major Israeli oil discovery in exactly the place the Bible said it would be found. Think of the implications!

The first and most obvious is the vindication of yet another Bible prophecy, and another powerful evidence of its Author's continued involvement in the affairs of men in these last days.

It will be much more difficult to dust out the old 'coincidence' argument when Israel becomes a global oil center based entirely on Scriptural references to the exact spot where it was hidden.

Additionally, it could completely upset the current balance of power. A major oil strike could potentially make Israel as wealthy as any Arab oil kingdom.

It is unlikely that the Arab states would allow Israel membership to OPEC, which could signal the end of the oil cartel's power and its stranglehold over the US economy.

An oil strike in Israel would be catastrophic to the Arab oil economy.

And, as noted, Israel is currently one of the former Soviet Union's most valuable customers. An oil strike would instantly reverse the equation, depriving Russia of its current income while becoming one of its major competitors.

"Breaking the Treasure Code" makes a powerful case for the existence of oil hidden deep within Israel, explaining the relevant Scriptures and exploring the deeper meanings that come to the front when examined in context.

"Breaking the Treasure Code" is divided into two books within a book; Book I being Jim Spillman's original 1981 publication, with Book II comprising Steve's followup on developments in the years since.

Uniquely, Spillman explores the significance of a major oil strike in Israel to the unfolding tapestry of Bible prophecy for the last days, in particular, Ezekiel's 'Gog-Magog' war scenario against Israel, uncovering Scriptural secrets hidden 'until the time of the end', as the angel told Daniel (12:4)

"Breaking the Treasure Code” is both fascinating and relevant as the world grows increasingly dependent on a steadily dwindling energy supply.

So is its subject material, as it grows equally apparent that the days leading to that final countdown are dwindling as rapidly as the global energy supplies.

"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." (Luke 21:28)

For all you cynics - I heard this oil stuff prophesied in 1985 - before ANYBODY began drilling.

The precursors - earthquakes.

You can swab almost any hole drilled to that depth and get flares that burn for a few minutes.

A synopsis of this whole report in laymens terms is that its basically a dry hole with not enough gas pressure to push the large amount of water pouring into the hole out with help.

It cost so much to dispose of the water that producing the well isn't cost effective.

Now if it flowed 100 barrels of oil a day and produced several million feet of natural gas then things might look up.

Slant drilling should take care of that, right?
