The Republican Senate is worse than you can imagine. Half those jerks are sure that they should be President, since they are obviously smarter than Bush. The problem with being a Senator, is that so many people are willing to kiss their asses, they start believing what they are told. I'd bet that John McCain sleeps under sheets that have "Maverick" printed on them. Hell, Lindsey Graham probably has the same sheets too.

You deserve a double welcome back: One for returning to FR, and the other for supporting Harriet Miers.

Please, add me to your ping list.

Alternately leaving and returning is a rope-a-dopus

Dude, I'm using that. LOL.

Uh, if the rapture is two years away, doesn't that mean we won't need an extended warranty on Meirs?

BTW...I'm of the second coming school theologically speaking. But either way, with only two years to go, let's forget the bet and just go for it. ; )

But you are assuming that Specter lets the nominee out of committee. He doesn't. His no vote would kill the nomination, and I don't care how much he said he would let Bush's picks get to the floor. I'm told he lied, and I believe it.

If true, then the blame still lies with this president, who was the deciding factor in Specter's primary win.

My bet is McCain's king size sheets are big enough for both of them.

Pukin, I haven't been here long enough here to know you well, but from what I did see, you would have been missed. Thanks for the post.

IMHO it helps show what every conservative knows in his heart.

This situation is John McCain and his band of 14 rat b*stards fault. He single handedly stopped the golden opportunity to empanel known conservative judges. I firmly believe GWB had no real choice but to go to Mier, and she had the stones to accept the nomination.

Why so many are livid at Bush, when McCain destroyed the chance to end the filibusters and let conservative judges be nominated is beyond me.

To my everlasting shame, I voted for Lindsey Graham. He is gonna be the first one term Senator from South Carolina since the depression!

The awful trashing that Bush has endured, IMO for a situation he did not create, is a travesty.

Please add my name to your ping list.

I was wondering if some of the more favored were reluctant to go through an even worse process than they probably endured for their present positions.

Good thoughts. I'm on the fence about Meirs, myself. I just wish Bush hadn't described her as the best choice. I know he HAD to, but...

And as for those giving you grief on your return - I assume you know the words to the song, Sammy Small?

Once Casey has to actually say anything, Santorum will improve his numbers because Casey could never be mistaken for his dad once he opens his mouth,

Well, thanks for that info anyway. (Does Casey fils have the support of whatever PA calls its machine? I mean, to the extent that it would make a huge difference?)

and she had the stones to accept the nomination

That says something important about the nominee right there.

Not a single one of us, unless they have been through this themselves, can imagine what she is about to face.

I think there are very few of us who would be willing to subject ourselves to potential personal ruin and embarrassment, just for a job.

What is the W.H. going to do to keep them on the ranch so that doesn't happen?

Sorry if I'm boring, but I'm asking again: What do the Dems do to enforce party discipline? Do they keep a couple of guys who will shoot off kneecaps if anyone steps out of line? They're doing something!

Welcome back, PD.

I watched Russert this morning because I was somewhere without cable. I find it instructive that the only time the MSM trots out "conservative commentator, former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan" is when they know Buchanan's going to be critical of the President.

The President, thanks to the RINOs, had to nominate the person who stood the best chance of being confirmed. Common Tator and Miss Marple have pointed this fact out again and again.

I just don't understand the thinking that it's more important to nominate an unabashed conservative who's guaranteed to be Borked than to nominate a stealth conservative candidate who can win. How does losing advance the conservative cause?

President Bush has to play the hand he's been dealt, and thanks to the RINOs, this is it.

I've been to a couple weddings like that, also. Only I was the groom. I just didn't realize the analogy until a few years later. LOL.
