Well, Dog's got a better track record around here than you do, so most of us will take Dog's sources over yours. Oh so track records now matter??
Too funny!

You're right....he did say
activism ...which I corrected in a later post.
I saw it live, and Brit was pointedly talking to Kristol, and the word 'activism' was the effect of a bullet, IMO...to Kristol.
His point to Kristol, is that this one speicifically ...and I thought he inferred....to others, they would not have sustained the vetting process.
....Regardless, I know Brit specifically mentioned this one woman, and it took Kristol by surprise, and Brit inferred that this is the woman Kristol wanted on the court.....and she simply could not have survived vetting.

Valid points? If this is remotely true, conservatives need to have a fight on an originalist judge so we can know which Senators will block an originalist candidate from being confirmed. We need to know if RINO Specter would renege on his promise to allow an up or down vote on all Bush nominees so we can get him the hell out of a leadership position.
And, NO ONE can tell me that aren't numerous judges out there that could get 50 Republican votes that more of a sure thing than Miers. But, if there aren't then it's past time for conservatives to declare war on the RINOs in the Senate.
To: counterpunch
I think Specter's record is evidence enough of his disloyalty to the GOP. You're right, of course. But John Robinson posted earlier his reasons for believing that Toomey didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning the general elections. I have no position on that; I'm not in PA, and there were PA Freepers on both sides at the time. (The loss of one seat -- giving R's 54 -- wouldn't have been decisive, but I think there were other close elections and no guarantee that it would be only one.)

I heard Brit Hume TWICE today and do not remember him saying anything of the kind. He said that Alice Batcheldor (sp?) had been vetted and found to have been quite the judicial activist and so she had been dropped. I don't recall him even hinting that any skeletons had caused anyone to drop out.
I have heard that Priscilla Owen asked that her name be withdrawn, but that didn't really surprise me. She is quite the scholar, but not a fighter.

Wait a minute! What everyone seems to forget is that with Bork and Thomas, at the time of their appointments, the DEMOCRATS controlled the senate. That is why Bork was kept off the bench, and if not for the strong backbone of Thomas, he too would not have been confirmed.
The REPUBLICANS control the senate at this time and could confirm Daffy Duck or a Harriet Miers if they so chose to grow a spine. The democrats can rant and rave all they want,(remember a former little man senator, Daschle or something?), all the democrats are doing are proving everyday with their latest outburst just how unworthy they are of leadership and their numbers will continue to dwindle over the next 20 years.
Bush should nominate whomever he wants and then let the pubbies nuke the dems. The gang of losers would melt like the WWofW if Frist made a stand.

That incumbent had resigned from the Republican party in a snit. At the last minute he rejoined. Not exactly a loyal Republican.

this attacking of nominees and their families has got to stop or no one will want to serve I think this is why we get stuck with only Rinos to vote into office. Conservatives don't want to run the gauntlet with their families in tow.
