I am an absentee voter registered in Westland Michigan. I am trying to find information about city council members.
I've already tried Google and Dogpile. I checked the votesmart website but they don't have anything for city level elections. I couldn't even find biographies for the incumbents on the city website.
My family members are very liberal and I don't feel they would be unbiased.
I would rather not vote than make an uninformed choice.
Can anyone point me to some helpful resources? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
God bless you all!
Contact the MI state party at http://www.migop.org/default.asp and go from there. Larger cities also have information and are probably linked from the state web site.
1. Contact your county or district GOP County/district GOP parties
2. Look up the donation history of candidates for city council. These are public record.
Opensecrets show donations to federal candidates
Contribution search for state level candidates
Well, you could always ask for advice from your family and vote the opposite way. :-)
I just sent a message to my district GOP group.
Thanks!
