Does everyone understand now? This is not some small cabal of malcontents or trolls. The Party is split and this is NOT good no matter how anyone wishes to spin it.

That sound you hear-from the Miers camp-is crickets chirping.

The polls you cite are interesting.
Most seem willing to wait for the hearings to make a final determination.
Sounds good on first glance...but wait...
Ive said that there are a couple possible outcomes for these hearings.
1) Miers shines like star similar to Roberts, or otherwsie very good performance
2) Miers comes across as average...ok but nothing spectacular
3) Miers comes across as unqualified
4) Miers hearings dont reveal much at all about her qualifications or philosophy
Now what will be the outcome of the FR poll for these outcomes....if its anything other than 1)...62 percent of FR is going to be opposed to Miers
The other point is that the majority 62% of FR do NOT believe the President when he said that Miers was the best he could find. If they believed that...the approval would be over 60 percent.
Interesting stuff...now try to extrapolate this to the party as a whole....
