Good
Both Mark Levin and Robert Bork recommended O'Connor and Kennedy to Ronald Reagan as reliable, conservative, "constitutional scholars."
Bork has said he thinks the 2nd amendment is an anachronism, while Harriet Miers considers it a fundamental individual right.
And remember, Bork had both Bill and Hillary in his law classes at Yale and praised them both as exceptional. I'm leaning towards Miers, more and more.
Meirs just doesn't know the law and would soon be an embarrassment but comforting to her supporters based on her votes.
We really needed a rock solid proven conservative who was steeped in the law such as a Janice Rogers Brown.
Now we've got Miers. Everyone has their own opinion, my opinion is that she is a terrible pick and we had many who would have been much better. I think she's a wonderful person and a fine lady, but this is not the kind of job suited for on the job training.
Levin suggested she's nothing more than a paper stapler.
I am paraphrasing as the radio is on in the background...
Bork has said he thinks the 2nd amendment is an anachronism, while Harriet Miers considers it a fundamental individual right.
Can you document this?
Bork is first and foremost a scholar and thinker. I think he loves the intellectual combat more than anything. That's why he has respect for smart people who disagree with him like Ginsburg (or Bill and Hillary).
I don't blame Bush or Bork for the total politicization of Supreme Court Hearings. I blame the Dems and RINOS.
>>Harriet Miers considers [rkba] a fundamental individual right.
Source? Where can I find a Harriet Miers quote about the Second Amendment?
The Bork-bots won't like your post.
My recollection is that Bork did not even remember either Mr. "Clinton" or Miss Rodham from his constitutional law class. They were so mediocre that they left no impression on Bork.
Bork has said he thinks the 2nd amendment is an anachronism, while Harriet Miers considers it a fundamental individual right. And I'm leaning more and more to the idea that there are almost as many elitist windbags in top "conservative" circles as there are in top "liberal" circles (with the difference being, of course, that the liberal windbags also openly support all enemies of the USA).And remember, Bork had both Bill and Hillary in his law classes at Yale and praised them both as exceptional. I'm leaning towards Miers, more and more.
What is your source for this?
I am too, but only leaning - not there yet. One barometer for right and wrong in a debate: which side does the most trash-talking, use the most profanity, apply the most vitriol, exude the most condescension?
