MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- The Oklahoma chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union filed a federal lawsuit Thursday against Haskell County, demanding that a Ten Commandments monument be removed from the courthouse grounds in Stigler.

I didn't even know we had an "Oklahoma Chapter" of the ACLU. Apparently, they are in step with the national chapter when it comes to their antipathy toward decency.

They apparently have nothing better to do with time on their hands than erase every vestige of religion from the public square. The Anti Civil Liberties Union's devotion to the Secular Jihad is as fanatical as Al Qaeda's devotion to conquering the world for Islam by the sword.

Even If I hated religious monuments, which I don't, seems to me there would be so many other things to do in this world than to try to have them removed. Don’t these people have a life or anything better to do?

Why do they call the 10 commandment a religious monument as one would never find one of these monuments on some church grounds.

They should not even bother to answer the complaint. What is a judge going to do if they don't comply and don't pay his fines? Seize the town? "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion". Congress did nothing here. 10th Amendment tells the Feds to keep out of state business. It is time we show the courts the limits of their power.

I won't name the county, but in one county in Oklahoma, down the main hall is a very old painting depicting a man surrounded by children and a few sheep. There is no wording or title, and it is quite large. Any christian that looks at the painting can tell immediately that it represents Jesus. Don't know what an unbeliever would see. But it is comforting to me to walk by and see that painting. I fear some day that the leftists will realize what it is and sue. But so far so good.

ACLU is getting desperate.

Stigler? I'm probably one of the few people on Planet Earth who have any idea where Stigler, OK is.

Therefore the ACLU will no problems gettimg that taken down--unless Stigler has radically changed since the 70's!

There is one very important thing you must understand about the ACLU. If you believe in the concept of good vs evil, or to use a stronger word, warfare, then you will understand the motivation behind the ACLU. They want the removal of everything that smacks of Christianity removed from the public eye. And why do they want this? Because since the beginning of time, there has been an endless battle between Satan and God. Satan is alive and well in the form of the ACLU. When you see ACLU - think warfare.

Well, they must really think a lot of themselves to finally try to take on Oklahoma.

Let's hope they don't cherry pick for a Klintoon appointee.

Squash them!

I don't get it - are you saying Stigler is a haven for radical leftists in Oklahoma?

Then why would they have a Ten Commandments display?

In order to not be kicked off or banned, let's just say they would vote virtually 100% demoncratic, and most FReepers would take their last breaths there if they did not get out of town before sundown.

Answer your question?

Moral Absolutes Ping.

The ever-vigilant ACLU, fueled by our tax dollars, is busily removing every vestige of religious expression from the public view, lest some unwary citizen be reminded that God does indeed exist, and yes, He has some laws He'd like us to know about. Can't have spiritual pollution going on, an atheist here or there might start to have second thoughts.

After all, doesn't our Constitution guarantee freedom from ever having to have contact with any religious expression? Isn't that what the First Amendment really means?

Seriously getting angry. As if this was sectarian. A few years ago I wrote up some commentary about the 10 Commandments, I'll have to re-do it. They aren't sectarian, they are universal, and I'll prove it.

Freepmail me if you want on/off this pinglist.

In case anyone has any doubts about their purpose, consider this: A society populated by feral humans who cannot control their desires, their minds, or their actions = anarchy and chaos. What happens next? REAL Jack Booted Thugism. Totalitarianism. The less control people have over themselves from within, the more they'll wind up needing from without. It's natural law, can't be helped. It's like gravity. No one is exempt.

The ACLU should be tried under the RICO laws.
