Pre-Occupied With Miers, America Misses That Terrorists Get Nukes

By Frank Salvato

October 7, 2005

Yesterday President Bush tried yet again to refocus the nation on what is arguably the most important issue facing the world today; radical Islamist terrorism. But while most of the nation is mindlessly obsessing over why Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers' parents didn't get fleeced for a liberal Ivy League education, an issue that concerns the very survival of this country, and perhaps the free world took place and it did so with nary an eyebrow being raised.

This week it was reported that recently elected -- or should I say selected -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has placed the Iranian military in complete control of their nuclear program. This move should serve as notice that the official Iranian line, that their pursuit of nuclear technology is only for peaceful purposes, is nothing short of a joke. Those who choose to continue to believe so are either disingenuous or of the same vacuous intellect as those who are duped into believing that A.N.S.W.E.R. is simply a well-meaning anti-war/anti-racism organization and not a front for the World Workers Party.

The fact that the Iranian military is now the lead organization pursuing weapons of mass destruction for a radical Islamic fundamentalist regime should be chilling enough, but that is only the beginning.

The Iranian government, while holding mock elections where those opposed to Ayatollah Khamanei are routinely suppressed, oppressed and most likely depressed, not to mention beaten, raped and murdered, is a totalitarian "theocracy" based on radical Islam. They are a state sponsoring terrorism and have provided aid to terrorists operating inside of Iraq. They have even been implicated directly in the deaths of British soldiers patrolling in the south of Iraq. Further, Mansoor Ijaz, noted expert on Islamic terrorism, has been opining for months that the Iranian government has given safe passage and harbor to Osama bin Laden and many of the simpletons that make up al Qaeda.

To add a more lethal dose into the mix, the leaders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps are now in control of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and an overwhelming number of that country's political posts. If you recall, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard was created to protect those who instigated and perpetuated the radical Islamic revolution of the 1970s, the same revolution that saw Iranian militants taking Americans hostages.

With regard to the Iranian National Security Council, smart money would bet that they have a much nastier bite than the joke that is the United Nations Security Council. While the UN's idea of "severe consequences" is a slap on the wrist, an Oil-for-Food scandal and sanctions that affect only those already impoverished by tyrannical dictators, the Iranian's "severe consequences" will most likely be measured in megatons.

The European Union, in conjunction -- or cahoots, you be the judge -- with Russia have failed in their attempt to rein in the Iranian's nuclear pursuit. When confronted with the "severe consequences" of the EU, the Iranian's laughed and threatened to expel IAEA nuclear inspectors as well as terminating their supply of oil to the world (sounds familiar, doesn't it).

The EU's response was to be confused. It would seem that their alternative to the actions taken by the Bush Administration when confronted with the exact same situation in Saddam Hussein's Iraq, failed miserably. The only thing missing in the current situation is the mudslinging, arrogance and pomposity that France, Germany and Russia spewed at President Bush when he called upon the world to pay attention to a most serious threat.

People have grown numb to the term "weapons of mass destruction." It is our culture's sitcom attention span coupled with a vanity that grew like a social cancer in America during the 60s and 70s that have caused us to allow chilling realities to blend into the news cycle induced fog of disinformation. We have become a nation of mouth-breathing "droolers," seated squarely in front of the glowing "news box," thriving exclusively on what empty talking heads like Katie Couric and the rest of her agenda-driven, self-aggrandizing gaggle of misfits choose to feed us. It would be disgusting if it weren't so sad and true.

Perhaps the American public will once again be rocked into reality when the pillars of our government lay in ruins from a nuclear terrorist attack, shaken from their self-absorbed slumber as they were on September 11, 2001. When men, women and children -- American men, women and children -- are pulled from the rubble of vaporized buildings, their charred skin hanging from their broken and exposed bones, perhaps then the anti-war activists, the "peace moms" and those who so often equate President Bush to Hitler will understand just how close we are to not existing.

Sadly, for all of us, it will be too late to have the vision to understand the threat of our enemies when we are standing amongst the rubble of our great Republic. It will be too late to recognize the severity of the threat when those who would cut off our heads, rape our women and indenture our children into the totalitarianism of radical Islam have successfully ended the Great Experiment that is the United States of America. If it takes until then we won't have a prayer because it will be an executable offense to pray. If you think it can't happen simply embrace your apathy and see what comes to pass.

If the free world allows Iran to attain nuclear weapons we will deserve the Armageddon that will ensue. The EU has failed and we already know that the UN is impotent and corrupt. If we don't awaken the sleeping giant so as to win this War on Terror, this war against radical and fanatical Islam, we can be sure that our children's children will never get to see the nomination of another Supreme Court justice, Ivy Leaguer or not. They will be too busy studying Wahhabism and that ain't freedom.

UNITED WE STAND won't stop ringing in my ears. Can't our President count on the support of AT LEAST the Prepublicans and any conservatives, if not the whole American people?

"I just finished reading the President's speech again and I think it contains a very strong message to Iran."

I listened to the Presidents speech and rolled my eyes.
10,000+ "unknowns" are streaming across our borders each week.

If that fact doesn't make the WOT a twisted delusional fallacy, then nothing else is really a concern.

Move along.

I'm not thrilled with Miers, mostly because I think the pick makes Bush look scared. However, that opinion should not be interpreted as a lack of support for Bush, or a sliver of doubt on my part that he means what he says (...and says what he means).

I think the left is looking at the Miers dust-up on the right and thinking that it is a sign that our support for Bush, or the was in Iraq or the WOT is waning. Far, from the truth. But they are in such disarray right now, I can't blame them for grasping at any straw.

Good thing our borders are secure.
We've got nothing to worry about.

Well, certainly not all Americans, but your point is well taken.

I ran across this lately:

Mansoor Ijaz - Iranian government has given safe passage and harbor to Osama bin Laden

Mansoor Ijaz - Nuff said - The man's "impeccable" sources have long ago been captured or killed (by which side is the only real question) -

UBL is no where inside Iran -

ASA Vet this one is truly worthy of your Elivis Bin Laden Ping -
