After all, we have a president who professes to be pro-life, yet cannot bring himself to say that Roe v. Wade was an abomination he hopes will go the way of Dred Scott. Boy to talk about nailing it!
Friends, I don't mean to pile it on... that is not my style but I am extremely dissapointed, almust "hurt," with presidents choice and the whole thing (I don't like the choice and the whole way it was done). I am begining to hope she will recuse herself to avoid further damage to the president. She should. And to all those who think this story/issue will go away... don't count on it. I don't want to argue, I respect your views, you have as much right to be passionate on your views, as I with mine. Everybody should have the right to express their views within the rules of this forum. Would not be absurd in everyone here had accepted this as the BEST! possible choice, and we were all similing and singing like "cheer leaders," :) Would not that be creepy? Yeaacchhh... Luckily we are not... our views differ and yet I can be civil to one another.

Right on.
Here is an odd point. The party faithful here that are trying to make excuses for such a lame choice of Miers by Bush would also have been thrilled if Luttig, Brown or Jones would have been chosen.
Now I ask you , how could these members of Free Republic be thrilled if Bush had chosen Luttig, Jones or Brown, yet still be thrilled he chose Miers???????????
Can any sane person here explain that?
What we are seeing is a real division of members at FR, something well known here. 99% of the members here at FR are conservatives, but half of those are rational and fair and objective and believe in fighting for the NATION. The other half are good people, but are closed minded party cheerleaders who really don't spend any time with concern about the direction the nation is headed, but only are concerned about cheering louder than "the other side", like some high school football team's cheering section. Party politics, to that half, is far more important than the direction the nation is headed.
Crystal clear distinction.

(Bush's #1 priority Africa. #2 priority appease Fox and Mexico . . . USA priority #64.)

If you want a more conservative President, elect him or her. I will help you do it. But let's remember that this President just barely got elected twice. Perhaps if he were more conservative AL Gore or Kerry would be making the appointments. Would that make your little hurt feelings feel any better?
