Well, it really could be much ado about nada. I think the most compelling argument FOR her is that Clarence Thomas, who is arguably the best on the Court, also had an unimpressive resume and was looked at as a diversity pick.
As brilliant as Scalia is, he's notably more big gubmint than Thomas. Scalia's commerce clause jurisprudence, for example, is quite liberal. So who knows? If she turned out to be another Thomas, that'd be a very good deal.
