A terroritst arrested in Iraq said that 19 terrrorists ALREADY IN PLACE are going to palce bombs in the subways. They have NOT been able to discredit the info. The tip has to somewhat specific. It's impossible to meaninfully discredit general threats. The tip must come from a really good source.
If they hear it, the news report might cause the bombers to lay low / reschedule. Another threat, successfully thrwarted.
Earlier today I was wondering if Bush's sudden "war on terror" speech today was intended as a preemptive CYA to show what we've already accomplished and prevented, in case there's a successful attack in the near future. We've heard reports of increased terrorist chatter and AQ claims of pending October attacks in the US and worldwide.
