Beautiful.
This reads like an action movie. Good bless the Marines --and all of our brave fighting men.

"If this is the kind of person a Marine is, the United States of America is in very good shape."

Ma'am, this is the kind of people that are in all the branches of the military.

Craft's father arrived with a bucket of ice water and a case of beer. "I have never been happier in my life," Richard said.

Craft describes himself as "a lousy garrison Marine, but good in the field...." Although he performed well in training and combat, a drunk and disorderly incident in 2003 prevented him from sewing on corporal stripes until this past year.

Heh, I know that type very well. You don't want a whole platoon of those guys, but you wouldn't want to have a platoon without any of them, either. The born fighters.

Nice story. Bet he doesn't consider himself a hero, either. (Now if John Kerry had been there, he would have dived into the murky water and given mouth-to-mouth to a hamster.)

Wonderful article.

"Ross Craft risked his life for two people and a bunch of animals he had never met. While other Americans were terrorizing us, Ross saved us. While the mayor was crying, and the rescuers were taking their time, a Marine came for me. If this is the kind of person a Marine is, the United States of America is in very good shape."

I wish more Americans were like Ross Craft. He is hero in my eyes.

That was awesome.

We can add Corporal Ross Craft to the very short list of heroes with names in this debacle. Diamante Love and Jamaal Gibson were the only other two named civilian heroes.

While not acting in an official capacity, I sure hope he gets a commendation for his actions.

John Kerry is not fit to polish this Marine's boots. And I like the fact that he also picked up a stray dog along with the other animals. GOD BLESS THE MARINES, GOD BLESS OUR MILITARY AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Yep, the majority of Marines, sailors, and soldiers are just like that (me included). The crap that you have to put up with daily on base drives most out after one enlistment.

Cpl. Ross Craft is a very humble and respectful young man.
When I told him how proud we were of his actions in New Orleans, he reponded as "I was just trying to help out".
Not only did the Marines do a great job training this young man but his parents have done an outstanding job raising him. I know they are equally as proud. Cpl. Craft deployed not even a week after returning from New Orleans to support OIF again. Please pray for his safety, as well as all of our service men and women in harm's way.
Ross, praying for your safety hourly and daily. We are very proud of you.

As a very proud cousin, I just wanted everyone to know how wonderful of a person Corporal Ross Craft is. Ross is a very selfless individual who always goes above and beyond. He always thinks of others before he thinks of himself. Ross spent almost half of his leave in New Orleans helping all those who were unable to help themselves. This story, as wonderful as it is, only shares some of the many heroic actions that Ross displayed. Ross is now in Fallujah, so please keep him in your prayers. Thank you for all of the kind comments about my cousin!! He really is an American Hero in my eyes, as I'm sure he is in yours. Thank you and God Bless America!
